I saw that and they sighted the reason was because The F.B.I. is better suited for Investigations.

FBI is to investigate now-- Great another out of control probe in the making- I find it hard to believe any FAA official took a bribe If you have ever spent time around the FAA directly employed , non-designee insepctors) The MOST they can/will accept is a cup of coffee-- and that is IF there are no vending machine or other sources for them to purchase them. IF they are inspecting your operation and you have an aircraft at the other end of the ramp- they will not ride in your vehicle, and insist on driving their own. Having "designated" Boeing inspectors in the construction process could be a bit more of a difficult scenario, although as related to me from retired friends from Boeing-- not really anything new. Seems to me , like others have said , if the airplane is bucking, and ANY automated assistant is engaged-- you disengage George (and any of his relatives) and fly the aircraft-- I too am OLD as someone else said- most of the time we transitioned to various aircraft with much less fan-fare and training than today- Obviously --I'm Not saying training and recurrent training is bad-- Just thinking maybe the younger crowd is more electronically dependent than we were- (kinda like the story Todd related) DuggaBoye-O NRA-Life Whittington-Life TSRA-Life DRSS DSC HSC SCI

Boeing screwed up. People died, and it will be swept under the floor. Being a pilot, training is very important, and any automation should be very prominently marked as how to turn off!

The pilots might not have known what was causing the issue. This was more than a screw up.This was criminal negligence on a large scale and those responsible should go to prison.

Here is another follow up story where they talk about pilots recreating the Lion Air crash. Two things I find most interesting in the article are the pilots recreating the crash had approximately 40 seconds to figure out what the problem was before it was uncontrollable. The second one is there is some type of thumb switch on the controls that will override the MCAS system. The actual Lion Air pilots hit that switch over 2 dozen times to try and override the system but the plane kept trying to push the nose down. Lion Air Crash article

Whoever it was at Boeing who had all this system setup this way much have been an utter idiot! Companies are cancelling orders, airlines are not flying them, and I can assure you I will never fly this one either. I will take my chances with air travel, but designed in crash is not on my list!
