The vaccine is not recommended for those over 60 from what I read. If you are traveling to a country that requires the yellow card and you are over 60 what happens?

Frost - The very first thing I would do is check with your personal Doc and see what he says about the subject. Most "advice" here on AR is pretty good, but on things concerning ones health, I would stick with my Doc.

If indeed this vaccine is not advised I am sure your Doc would give you a written note on the subject that you could carry with you on your travels.

My doctor recommended that I get one at age 65 -- no ill effects.

There evidently is some risk with the shot as I had to remain in the doctor's office for 30 minutes and then have my vitals checked before I left. For whatever that's worth.

I'd check with my doctor -- but, whatever you do, don't put yourself in the situation of having to get the shot in the airport in some random African country. I tremble at the thought.

When you get bored with life, start hunting dangerous game with a handgun.

I got the Yellow fever shot, along with several other shots on the same day...

No problems.

From what I have read, there are some countries that if you do not have your yellow fever Immunization card with you, then you will not be allowed to enter the country...

Whatever, do not mess with the yellow fever. Good friend gave it a chance down the peacock bass direction and made it home and died about ten days to two weeks later. Just an FYI.

If you have not had a Yellow Fever innoculation prior to travel in or through a Yellow Fever affected country, you may strike problems trying to re-enter a western Country.

If they see you have been in a yellow fever country, they can refuse entry if you can not prove innoculation.

Any responsible medical practioner will ask you to wait in case of ill effects post innoculation for Yellow Fever regardless of your age. If they do not, they are deficient in knowledge regarding innoculation.

As a rough guide, if you can drink alcohol and/or have sex without ill effect, you should be able to handle a Yellow Fever innoculation.

When considering US based operations of guides/outfitters, check and see if they are NRA members. If not, why support someone who doesn't support us? Consider spending your money elsewhere.

NEVER, EVER book a hunt with BLAIR WORLDWIDE HUNTING or JEFF BLAIR.

I have come to understand that in hunting, the goal is not the goal but the process.

Some say 60 and some say 65. If you've had a previous yellow fever shot then apparently age is irrelevant.

Never worry about theory as long as the machinery does what it's supposed to do.
