I may be in South Africa and Congo for some work stuff in end of June.

All the Congo and South Africa trip parts are being managed by the host.

I am thinking of going to Cape for a week.

What else to do

I want to hunt but I don't think it would be possible - I don't want to travel with guns ect. My guys in Botswana and Zim are booked.

I was thinking of doing a self drive in Namibia or Botswana - maybe visit a few photo places. Maybe shoot some cull/non trophy animals.

Has anyone done a self drive in Namibia? Any advice recommendations ?

Thanks,

Mike

I spoke to Mel on Skype this afternoon - Mike met with the VP today, and things are looking up. There are worse things to do than hang around the Save!

Great news.

I think only having command of a fast attack would beat the Save but Uncle Sam is not giving me one anytime soon.

USS Dallas and New Mexico were in Cape Canaveral last week.

My wife and I did a 16 day self drive in Botswana a couple years ago. We used Drive Botswana. They did a great job. They also do Namibia. Namibia would be much easier than Bots.

Very true - I still have fond memories of parking USS Hampton (SSN 767)in Port Canaveral and also right in front of "Burt and Jack's" in Fort Lauderdale.

Have done Namibia, bots, RSA, zim.

Namibia is easy, lots of facilities everywhere. Rent a nice 4x4 and you'll have a good time.

Wife and I drove namibia last year. No problem. Windhoeck to hunt near Otavi, through Etosha, Swokopmund and back. Road through Etosha almost shook the car to pieces, 90 miles of washboard. 4x4 would be nice. Gas stations require cash.

My wife and I did a 2-week self drive tour in Namibia as well as parts of Bots and Zim back in 2009. Feel free to PM me with any questions.
