The floating flower market is another attraction. One of the jewelry stores has a diamond cutting demonstration that is quite interesting too.

Try to get tickets for the museums you want to visit in advance. Things like the Anne Frank house sell out quite a long time in advance. Rijksmuseum has Rembrandt's Nightwatch (and a bunch of others and some Van Gogh's).

Been to Amsterdam at least 10 times.
Red light district is like Las Vegas, pass on this.
The rest are great ideas.
If you can get to Rotterdam and see the harbor, that is impressive as can be.

If you are willing to leave the city, I would recommend Voldendam and Zaanse Schans. Both are worth the time. Also, I would recommend getting out of the city for a day or two as rural area of the Netherlands are quite beautiful and interesting. Find a small out of the way hotel in a small village. It will be a great experience.

.

When are you there ?

The tulip fields near Schiphol are a must see !

Plus I would spend a day in Den Haag - lots to see and worth the trip!
