Hi Guys;

My hubby and I are sitting in Jo'burg waiting for our connection to London (LAX) from Beira. Hunted with PH Craigh Hamman of Mark Haldane's Zambeze Delta Safaris......had a fabulous hunt. I managed to get my 10th Cape Buffalo and survived the SWAMPS!!!!! (That's an experience in its own.)

Can't believe the first connection to the Internet in 12 days and I had to check AR Forum to see how everyone is doing. (Haven't even checked with my business or family back home, will do that tomorrow!)

Best to all, D. Nelson

Glad to hear you had a good time but London is LHR (Heathrow) or LGW (Gatwick). LA is LAX.

Hope they haven't misrouted your bags?

Shakari;

I hope they haven't misrouted my bags as well. I meant to imply we were headed to London with LAX as our final destination. We're in Heathrow now...who knows were the luggage is!

Best regards, D. Nelsono

Glad you have enjoyed your hunt.
I look forward to your hunt report.

The swamps remind me of when we hunted close to them a few years back.

We have shot a couple of buffalo early in the morning, and have got back to camp for lunch.

Lunch time Alan suggested we go to the swamps to look for waterbuck.

Then Walter turned up.

Alan "Walter, would you like to join us to go to the beach?"

Walter "Yes of course I will join you. Better still if Saeed stays behind"

Me "You should know by now the truck goes nowhere without me, Roy and Alan. The rest of you lot are only hangers on"

Walter "Can we take some beer with us to enjoy at the beach?"
Alan "Of course we can. I will tell them to put some ion the cool box"

Off we went in the afternoon, and drove to the edge of the swamp and stopped. We got on top of the truck to glass for waterbuck.

Walter "Alan, I thought we were going to the beach?"
Alan "We ARE at the beach. Just get out of the truck and walk a few steps that way. You will sink to your armpits"

Walter, looking decidedly not happy "You are becoming just as bad as Saeed and your father. False advertisement again. The beach to me means nice sandy beach, with palm tress and pretty girls in bikinis. Not this"

Me "You know something, I am sure Alan can arrange for you to go to the beach in Dar. Stay there until we have finished our hunt. I am sure no one will miss you"

Walter "You will not miss me but you will miss my BBQ. Speaking of which, when are you three jokers going to stop chasing buffalo and shoot something smaller for me to BBQ?"

Alan "Ask the boss"
Walter "Who is the boss? I can never tell between you, your father and Saeed. Each one makes a different decision"

Me "Ok Ok, tomorrow we will get you something to BBQ. Now can you just keep quiet for a bit?"

Couldn't agree with you more regards hunting the swamps in Coutada 11 with the Haldanes. A truely different hunting experience. It took me three hours to get into the swamps via Argo, then had 3 hours to hunt Buff and another three hours to get out. Camped right on the edge of the swamps. While I have no intention of going into the swamps again, it is a very unique experience and am glad I did it.

Looking forward to a full report w/pics once you're home and settled.
