My husband and I depart LAX tomorrow Aug. 21 via JFK (SAA flt 204 Aug. 22) to Jo'berg then on (SAA flt22 Aug 23) to Harare.

Hopefully a couple of buffalo awaiting us in Bubye!

Anyone else along this route?

Best regards, D. Nelson

I envy you. Just got back and wish I was still there. The BVC is the what the Garden of Eden must have been like. The number of lions is unlike anything I have ever seen. Check into seeing if you can follow Paul around as he does his lion research. Have a great time. What camp will you be staying at?

UEG;

Buzz Charlton made all the arrangements after Hammond Ranch in Save didn't get their permits in a timely manner (I don't know if they ever got them, but I know other SVC had delays.) However, I can't say I was disappointed as Plan B isn't too shabby! Especially thanks to your report and that of others here!

We are hunting with a Butch Coatan as our PH, 7 days at Dyers Camp and then 7 days at Ripple Creek.

I can't believe how excited I am as this is safari number 11 and it feels like the first! Now if I can just get through all the airport stuff without the need of a tranquiller dart, I'll be in good shape.

Leaving for the LAX in a few hours!

Best regards, Darin

Have fun, Darin!

I did that LAX to JFK to Jo'Burg in 2008, If I remember correctly there was about a three hour layover in JFK at 6:00 AM.

I flew into Jo'burg and had coffee with Karl Stumphe (he was flying to the Caprivi) while waiting for the flight to Bulawayo.

Best of luck Darin! My gun didn't arrive in Bulawayo until the next day. I was sweating that since all my guns are left handed.
