Hi all. I had a look, first time, on the Mauser 71/84 some days ago. A interesting rifle and action. But, how is the action? How is it to use today, in a modern low pressure caliber? (Or, load the .43 Mauser to a low low pressure.) Cheers all Vegard_dino

I had one several years ago. It was a lot of fun to shoot. I will forever regret selling it. Doug Humbarger NRA Life member Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club 72'73. Yankee Station Try to look unimportant. Your enemy might be low on ammo.

I have both a 71/84 and a 71 in the original 11.15x60R chambering, both fun shooters. I've used both black and smokeless loads.

Hi Oh interesting. With smokeless loads in the 71/84, what bullet and what FPS do you get? You take it out hunting? Cheers all Vegard_dino

I've used both 340 and 370 gr bullets. Never chronoed the loads, but would guess 1200-1400 FPS. Only thing I've shot with them has been paper.

Thanks for the reply. Wel, it is a big heavy bullet, so it will be a ok short range caliber. Also good at making holses in paper to A interesting rifle. Cheers all Vegard_dino
