Mauser 71/84, some who have used it?
Hi all.

I had a look, first time, on the Mauser 71/84 some days ago. A interesting rifle and action.
But, how is the action?
How is it to use today, in a modern low pressure caliber? (Or, load the .43 Mauser to a low low pressure.)

I had one several years ago. It was a lot of fun to shoot. I will forever regret selling it. Frowner

Try to look unimportant. Your enemy might be low on ammo.

Oh, interesting
You had it in the original caliber?
Did you shoot black powder?

I have both a 71/84 and a 71 in the original 11.15x60R chambering, both fun shooters. I've used both black and smokeless loads.

Hi

Oh interesting.
With smokeless loads in the 71/84, what bullet and what FPS do you get?
You take it out hunting?

I've used both 340 and 370 gr bullets. Never chronoed the loads, but would guess 1200-1400 FPS. Only thing I've shot with them has been paper.

Thanks for the reply.
Wel, it is a big heavy bullet, so it will be a ok short range caliber.
Also good at making holses in paper to Smiler
A interesting rifle.

Yes, the bullets are big and heavy, as are the rifles!

Yes they are.
But, I did like the action on the rifle.
