vegard_dinoMauser 71/84, some who have used it?
Hi all.
I had a look, first time, on the Mauser 71/84 some days ago. A interesting rifle and action.
But, how is the action?
How is it to use today, in a modern low pressure caliber? (Or, load the .43 Mauser to a low low pressure.)

D HumbargerI had one several years ago. It was a lot of fun to shoot. I will forever regret selling it.

vegard_dinoOh, interesting
You had it in the original caliber?
Did you shoot black powder?

craigsterI have both a 71/84 and a 71 in the original 11.15x60R chambering, both fun shooters. I've used both black and smokeless loads.

vegard_dinoHi
Oh interesting.
With smokeless loads in the 71/84, what bullet and what FPS do you get?
You take it out hunting?

craigsterI've used both 340 and 370 gr bullets. Never chronoed the loads, but would guess 1200-1400 FPS. Only thing I've shot with them has been paper.

vegard_dinoThanks for the reply.
Wel, it is a big heavy bullet, so it will be a ok short range caliber.
Also good at making holses in paper to

A interesting rifle.

craigsterYes, the bullets are big and heavy, as are the rifles!

vegard_dinoYes they are.
But, I did like the action on the rifle.
