BiebsDave, the owner of Trop's, is a great guy. He's on AR on occasion, as "ezra4570" if I remember. I have bought and sold rifles with Dave several times, and he's a stand-up guy.

doesnt look like there are any sidewall or front ring markings on this rifle other than the serial number. a photo can't show what's not there.

Gun Control - A theory espoused by some monumentally stupid people; who claim to believe, against all logic and common sense, that a violent predator who ignores the laws prohibiting them from robbing, raping, kidnapping, torturing and killing their fellow human beings will obey a law telling them that they cannot own a gun.

I know a guy who might have a .500 Jeffrey he could use for trading material!!!
On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.

ColoradoMattThis rifle is just top notch. What strikes me as much as the fine quality of the rifle, is the low price. I love the so called "real" British pedigree rifles from the likes of Rigby, Holland & Holland, Jeffery, and Westley Richards, but their prices are beyond imagining. This rifle seems every bit their equal for 1/4 the price. If I were single, I could actually afford this one!

That is exactly true. And since Lon is also a serious hunter he makes sure his rifles handle and feed every bit as good as they look.
They are the choice of many African PH's for that reason.
I even know of one old Alaskan sourdough who uses one

I did seriously consider buying Lon's 500 Jeffery when he had it for sale at the show last year. But I left it for you.

Actually new built english rifles have radically inflated in price in the last 100 years.
In 1910 A H&H royal double cost about 79 pound or $375.oo in 1910 dollars.
The average wage in America in 1910 was $750.oo a year.
So a H&H royal cost about 6 months wages for the average working American.
The average wage in America in 2011 is about to $43,000 per year.
So if the buyng power of our dollar stayed constant...
A H&H royal should cost around $21,500.oo in todays money.
As can be seen, the politicans have done thier work well...

This 404 I would think is close to replacement cost(probably below). Doesn't really matter because if your in the market for a fine rifle, you could do alot worse.
Too much money in the world and that money is held by too few hands.
