Wayne van Zwoll wrote a very good story about Al Biesen in the current issue of Sporting Classics. He mentions Roger briefly but doesn't mention he has retired.

As with all Sporting Classics stories, the photography is superb.

Yes, I read it. I like just about anything that Wayne van Zwoll writes, especially his rifles and cartridges column in Bugle Magazine.

IIRC Roger had some replacement work done, hips or knees. After that I do not think he ever took on any new work, just tried to clean out the backlog.

Good guy, good work. Unfortunately age gets us all.

I have't been posting much for awhile. I just came across this post and there is no notice about Roger. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but Roger passed away a couple weeks back. I received an email from his daughter with the news.

Wayne is also one of my favorite rifles.

Sorry to hear about Roger.

When I was a young Sailor, I used to visit Kesselrings gun shop in Washington pretty much weekly. They had multiple custom rifles made by Biesens, Minar and Ottmar that a guy could get for about $3500.

I never bought one, Mr. Kesselring talked me into a pair of Sako Fiberclasses in 30-06 and 375 and I gave $1600 for the pair new.
