I think most laminates I've seen are made out of the scrap that's found on the floor or out of the wood box next to the stove.

My serious hunting rifles are either laminate or synthetic. However, some rifles just plain don't look right without a wood stock, single shots being the prime example. I also like wood on my heavy rifle like a .416; after all, Africa is pretty friendly on wood stocks, and it just plain feels better. On the other hand, I can't stand synthetic stocks on shotguns. I have an SX3 with a synthetic, more because it is painted in camo. But for the life of me I can't see why anyone would use an O/U with a synthetic stock.

With a three lam construction. Sure looks like hell if you need to build in cast

The only reason I have two laminated SS guns is so I can stick them in a couple feet of snow while I gut a deer or elk..If it aint snowing I want wood, its just warmer to the heart, and has a warmer feel. Its better on my old eyes and can be swooned over while sitting on a rock or against a tree watching the other side of a mountain on a cool moring with the sun just warming up ones back..Thats when a wood and blue rifle always wins the game..If that doesn't work for you, you need a sledge hammer.. Laminates are too heavy, and besides that they remind me of moms new kitchen floor..or handrails on the stairs...They don't even make good firewood..
