Satterlee 338 Win.Mag. with tangs
I made the action from barstock, it's a standard magnum Satterlee M98 action. I must admit I was a bit uneasy cutting the tang off that receiver so I could weld another on. My first tanger. At the end of the day all went well and I was amazed the end of receiver tang was within .003 to the bore center line,,,cool. Liken it. The lower tang was more or less a blacksmithing project. Take a piece of steel heat it bend until it looks like the inside of a grip and go for it. Get out the lightning glue gun (tig) and make it happen.

Morris Melani at Alaska machined the barrel Schilling contour 1/2 octagon 1/2 round full length rib with integral front ramp. As this rifle is finished out it will be full coverage engraved as well. Enjoy the photos Cheers, Stuart

Superb work. I question the application on a .338, but WTH that's what custom is all about. Look forward to seeing pics when it is finished.

I love the look!! I’d love it on anything!! Craftsmanship that will last a lifetime.

Damn nice!

On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch...
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!
- Rudyard Kipling

Life grows grim without senseless indulgence.

Lookin great Stu. Those tangs will have you on eggshells until the very last time you assemble the rifle. Even something as simple as rust bluing can get a little tedious when your carding wheel starts to grab the tang and makes it sing like a tuning fork.

So the tangs on mine sang a little while you were carding, Chuckle chuckle.

Thanks James,
It gives me new respect for those that have made one with tangs.
