My role in this project was small, but what a nice little rifle. Mauser/Wiebe takedown scope system.

Caliber 6.5 Creedmoor.

Very nice work, as usual. Look forward to pictures of the finished rifle...

Yes,, made it a square bridge John Speed's book shows this configuration from the factory, I felt it was in keeping with the historical concept of the action

Lovely! How much does it weigh without rings and scope installed? How long is that barrel?

FISH!!

Heed the words of Winston Smith in Orwell's 1984:

"Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right."

The barrel is 22" long and 1:8 twist. Can't tell you the weight right now - will try and weigh it when it comes in.

Answers to a few question I've received: this is an Obermeyer 5R barrel, Bottom metal is mine as is the buttplate. The grip cap is a Fisher before the "dome" being formed. Mike furnished the wood

wadr (with all due respect) one could add just a bit more fill light to the full length photos to show the wood detail a bit better. (Meter is giving you an underexposure due to white background. white paper is gray instead of white as well)

Another tip would be to get the piece away from the background a bit more. That way you won't have those ugly shadows. If one can find a way to support the piece "out in space" away from a plain background it looks better. But if one has a pattern background that doesn't show shadows so much you can get by with laying the piece right on the background, but it still makes it more difficult to light.

Good points...when I get around to figuring out a smart phone, I'll be in touch (HAR)

I know photography is important and I'm not making light (figuratively speaking) of your advice.

Taking photos, even at my level burns up a lot of time ..and in this particular case, that wood is REALLY dark

Love the barrel profile, no straight shank at the breech, lovely profile, gets right to work. Reminds me of a girl I used to know when I was much younger.....

I'm only 38, but I have followed Mr. Wiebe's work for almost two decades, as long as I have known about custom bolt action rifle building. I am a big bore fan, so those rifles have always been my favorites. Up until now. Like custom acoustic guitar luthiers, the work of gun makers improves to the point that they are at the top of their game.

Cheers to you and Duane, this thing absolutely drips American custom rifle.
