bigdoggy700It weighs 17 lbs and 1 1/2 oz. on my scale. It actually kick a little harder that the Owen 4 bores. Of course it is 9 lbs lighter. Ask Drew Henry how they compare. He shot both at the Texas shoot. Idaho Sharp shooter shot them back to back at my place also and handled them both rather well.

drewhenrytntI'd rather shoot the 4 bore Mastodon all day long than have to put another round through that 700! I would carry the Mastodon myself too! That 700 was a lot sharper than I expected. JeffeOsso or jimatcat has a picture of me with the 700 in full recoil. It was the closest I have ever come to losing control of a weapon. I don't remember if I was able to maintain a two handed grip or not. It was memorable yet unpleasant experience. I would do it again however if Ken brings his toys to the shoot in the spring. I want to make it look easy so a couple of my friends can try it and get kicked on their ass!!

Idaho SharpshooterMy choice, free ammunition...? I'd ten times rather shoot the four-bore over that stinkin' 700 H&H. My older brother is still "Hee-Haw ing his butt off over the 700 firing show.
