My pair of 270 Wby rifles. First is a Mauser VZ24 with a walnut stock, Second is a Montana 1999 with a maple stock.

03 July 2019, 02:52
enfieldsparesI owned this once. Made by Bennie Laubscher the South African gunsmith.
It was such nice wood that I couldn't bear to shoot it. It became a "safe Queen".
My Boss however I've no qualms its odd but I don't intend to go crawling through heather with my Boss unlike with any stalking rifle.

That seems to be a problem with a lot of really nice looking rifles.
Don't see many hunting dings in them.
03 July 2019, 19:57
customboltTrue. Some of mine are safe queens.
Yet, fondling is under-rated.
Can't hunt with them all. Better to put considerable wear on one or two than put minor wear on several.
But, I only hunt 6-8 days a year.
Excellent wood gentleman. Keep 'em coming please.

customboltI've been using postimage.com for pictures.
Sign up is easy from a PC.
Just go there and click on UPLOAD followed by VIEW IMAGES and then it will direct you to your computer. Click on pictures, double click on the picture you want to open. Then press that button on the lower right to upload it to postimage. Then you need to sign in somewhere and select my pictures or my gallery to see your pictures.
Then, double click your picture and select SHARE. Go down to the second to last URL and click the very last item on the right. It may ask your permission to use a clipboard. Click OK and the copied box will pop up.
NOW , go to your new post on AR and place your cursor in the message area and RIGHT click and select PASTE.
You're done.
Be patient. I went by memory to write these instructions. I'M SURE YOU CAN FIGURE OUT HOW TO SIGN UP AND PICK A NAME AND PASSWORD. Neat thing about postimage, you can upload a picture before you even sign up to try it out to see if you like it.
Just remember, for future posts you must always sign in and double click your picture before you will see that SHARE button.

eddiel4Thank you John, These are a pair of Jerry Fisher rifles I own. I've always thought that there were three elements to a stock blank; these being figure, color and layout. I think this pair, done without any stain whatsoever capture all three and when all do come together it makes for a truly wonderful sight, all the more so in a matched pair. By the way, I haven't been successful in the past in duplicating color but a friend said I should try early morning light (something to do with atmosphere filtering). Well, it worked for me at least this time as that is about spot on for color! About the rifles, Tom Burgess did the metalwork and as mentioned Jerry did the stocks. Another neat little touch is the FN actions used an consecutive serial numbers. One is 7mm Mauser and the other is 30/06. I have to admit that much Scotch has been consumed while "studying" them...

Love that Nimrod, who made the holster?

218 BeeThat flap holster was built several years ago by Sam Andrews of Andrews Custom Leather in Florida. Elephant hide makes an awfully durable holster!
