My current project. Waiting for the shop to warm up a bit. Sub zero (F) temperatures required me to close it off for a while.

For those that like very dark wood, came from the same tree as the L461.

Can we see the rest of this beauty?
What a gorgeous piece of wood that has not been a safe queen. I would be tempted to restore it like that gorgeous 350 Rigby that is one of my favorite rifles of all time and on this thread.

Thanks.

The rifle was built by Keith Stegall. Not only did he build beautiful rifles, he also sold some of the best french walnut at that time.

Start to get an idea about how the stock will look finished.

20 March 2019, 23:32

Its a double rifle, made from Merkel parts "In the white", caliber 9,3x74R by the Swedish master gunsmith PO Stenmark.

First you have to select the right walnut blank. Some gunsmiths in Europe order from Turkish dealers, some visit the IWA Show and buy the blanks there.

Not so with P O Stenmark, he selects the right three in the Caucasus mountains.
