Amazing.
But why a lowpowered scope on a .223?

@CASII: please have a close look at current H&H bolt (!) Action rifles, I would like they take a 20k GBP plus rifle much more serious.

Hi Bent, just a guess on my part but I would say both for the look of the straight tube objective and also the fact that 5X is plenty on a light "stalking" rifle.

I think it is a fixed 2.5X.

It's a light stalking rifle made for fast shots around 150yds or less, it's not a prarie dog gun. The 2.5 fixed power Leupold has almost 5" of eye relief and is very forgiving on eye placement. It's a "fast" scope for aquiring a target. I thought/think it was a good match for the rifle and the type hunting I'll be doing with it.

I bought a 1.75-5X20 also but decided I liked this one better.

It has been to the range. The only load I had was some Hornady 55gr SP's which I could get to stoot around 1" at 100yds. I'll try to fine tune later when time permits.

With all that time and effort I would have hoped you would have chosen a better piece of wood.

That has to be, in the top two or three best looking pieces of wood on a rifle I have ever seen. Thanks for posting!!!

With that quarter rib and english look, it looks like the perfect weapon to knock over a rock chuck when he charges out of the thick jesse. FABULOUS looking weapon!

Butch,

Thanks for sending me this link. The gun is wonderful...

The only thing I want more than an Anderson rifle is a Ferrari 250GT SWB and I can't afford that either.

Beautiful workmanship, I am considering buying one of these M-85 mini mausers in .223 REM. Did you modify or upgrade the trigger, and there are complaints on the web of the bolt being gritty and sticky. Did you polish your bolt. Any Information you could give about smoothing the action would be appreciated.
Thank You,
Chas.

The trigger was replaced with a Timney Featherweight. After that James Anderson took out the the trigger shoe and made another from scratch to match the contour of the trigger bow. It's the little things like these that make a true custom so special.

As for the polishing, when I got it back from Shane Thompson there wasn't a piece on it that hadn't been polished and worked over.

Here is a thread that shows a lot of the work in progress. Shane Thompson, James Anderson and Roger Kher put thier heart and soul in this project.
