Hellquist Peep Sight

Please see post in Photo Albums and Videos--Pictures for the sake of---there is a picture of a Heym double rifle with neat peep sight. This sight seems to me to be the perfect sight for hunting purposes. I am an admirer of the Lyman 48 for target purposes but for hunting purposes it seems to be overkill. I have on an early Husky/FN 1947 vintage Mauser a Hellquist peep sight very similar to the Heym peep mentioned and would like to share the pics with youall (if someone will post pics for me). This sight is magnificently simple in its design while allowing some adjustment for windage and elevation and has the clearest and most defined sight picture of any peep I have ever used, including the M1 I toted for Uncle. I have an extra of these sights and another 1947 FN and my plan is a 404 with only the peep as sighting equipment.

Von Gruff-I did see the pic of your 404 but that sight appears to be somewhat different from the ones I have. If you wouldn't mind posting the pics for me send me your email.

I have an old issue of Hatari Times (I don't know the date because cover is missing, which features an article on page 37 entitled "My Self-Made Dream Rifle" by Svein Solli in which there is an almost identical sight to mine that Mr. Solli states "of my own design". Don't know who really designed the sight but Mr Hellquist went to the trouble to mark mine "Pat.S."

This is the sight on my 404. Started with a Williams FN unit and had a different base made for it.
