No but I have the perfect bottom metal. Should hold 10 or 12 down, lol.

And it's paid for already!

Simply perfect! Although the rifle looks very simple I am sure that the person or persons who made it possessed riflemaking skills that are rarely seen today.Show me one guy who could make a rifle that nice.Look at that wood! Look at how fine and elegant everything is.No thick grip or butt and garbage like that.No funny looking wood either.

If you hover the cursor over the image on your album, a tag menue will drop down.

Go down to the "IMG code" tab, click on it. It should briefly flash "copied". (if it doesn't flash, then copy it)

Now all you need to do is paste it on the post.

Here's an IMG from your album.

It didn't flash copy automatically. I clicked on the IMG tab, then copied the highlighyed URL in the window & pasted it.

I am curious which actions Rigby used for their rifles.

Were they consistent in their use of one maker, or did they use many makers.

It was my understanding they strictly used Mauser receivers. (That is, Oberndorf, "the orignal mauser") I stand to be corrected however as I am by no means a Rigby expert.

Rigby had an exclusive British import relationship with Mauser until 1912; that is why other makers used converted military actions, and that is why Mauser advertising said to make sure you get an "Original Mauser".
Thanks for the pic posting lesson too.

One thing which make this special is the use of the "intermediate" standard length action for the 275 rimless Rigby. Full length, but with the bolt slightly shorthened and a longer front bridge.

Ah ha! I have one of these actions and I could never quite tell what the deal with it was. A mix of "small ring" mauser attributes mixed with "large ring".

The notable being the shortened bolt, small threads, large ring, mexican style(sr) rear tang, front ring is longer than standard, but it uses standard bottom metal.

Even marked Oberndorf on the side.

Actually there are more capable people around today than you think.
The quality of stockwork/inleting and metal work found on some of those old British rifles is quite substandard compared to what has been done by highly talented individual smiths/small shops that have been emerging over the last three decades or so.

I would have Bells Rigby 7x57 for nostalgic reasons,
But would by far choose something from Anderson or Smithson in regards to precise execution of workmanship in metal & wood.

I guess I'd get some heat if I had ".275 Rigby" engraved on the barrel of a 7x57 M70, huh?

Lovely rifle. Much envy from this end.
