I have the stock off the rifle which I used in the Stockmaker Show and Tell. The finish needs to be removed and redone in oil. It appears that it is lacquer with checks in the finish. Someone sanded the front tip area inside to make the barrel float, but not too much wood removed. I have the 223 barrel also.
