Why do you always seem to be irritated and in a bad mood? I hope Christmas cheers you up a bit.

Dave, I have supported and defended you many times in the past but this time you are way out of line. SA pays Steven to write his column. They have the option to edit or print it as they see fit.

If you don't like what Steven writes you should contact him directly or contact SA. Calling him out here on AR is inane.

The way I see it is SDH is promoting the custom rifle/firearm. His seminars do exactly that also. His seminars seem to always be sold out/filled every year so it doesn’t seem he is gaining other than promoting the custom firearms...something he seems to really enjoy doing. More awareness for custom blued steel and fine wood firearms is a good thing anyway you look at it....some getting interested in it might even buy a great stockmaking book written by you...what’s the problem?

The above is why I seldom post on AR. Too many haters.
Not one of you know of my 30 year friendship with Steve and all the help I gave him.I got him his first and only writing assignment for American Rifleman and helped him with his photography. If you look in the back of his book you will see his acknowledgment of my help on his photography.
But it was all one sided. In 30 years I never ask one thing of him until I ask him to use one picture of mine in Sports Afield and he refused because he would not be paid for the picture. Our relationship was destroyed at that point.

I will say that Dave helped me when I needed to design a fixture to help my photographer friend in firearms photography. He was very helpful.
Is he an asshole, not to me he hasn't been.

Hey Mike ,shove it. All I really know about you is that you have a blood lust about killing elephants. You claim 50 or so and all they happened to do was to walk in front of your sites.
Every study done on elephants shows that they are inteligent and feel emotions. you but you don't care, you just want to kill them!!!. You make me sick Mike!!!

Most interesting thread out outside the political forum!

Let's see-

1. Mike has gotten on the OP bad side ala SDH.
2. Elephants "just walk" in front of the gun sights. All there is to it to kill one!
3. A stockmaker is appalled that someone shoots legal game with a rifle.

WOW!!!! popcorn

To be honest, I also thought it was an infomercial, but hell, almost everything else in SA is an infomercial for various outfitters or the latest gun. BFD, SDH gets to tout his seminars. Compared to Guns and Ammo, SA is an outlet for scholarly theses. Good for him. I hope to attend his seminars in the future.

I bought, enjoyed, and use your book, Mr. Westbrook, but if you offered seminars like SDH, I'd pass. You may be a wonderful guy in person, but online you come across as a dick. FWIW.

Oh. And the one section I always read start to finish in SA is SDH's column.

Sorry, no jealously, or anger, here because someone has the wherewithal to hunt Elephants to that extent or to enjoy any expensive hobby, sport, or endeavor to their full enjoyment.

Not sure why you seem to stay in a perpetually sour mood. That’s your problem not mine. Oh, and regarding the number of elephant I have hunted, I only wish that I had been able to hunt fifty elephant. Maybe someday. Why would you even start this thread?

Sports Afield is still in business? I haven't seen or read that magazine in decades. I was a regular subscriber back in the 60's and 70's until our paths diverged.

I remember seeing a 338-06 Mr. Wesbrook did on a Mauser G33/40. It was exquisite looking. A true example of the gunmaker's art.

You're pulling people into something which appears on its face to be more private than public Wesbrook and no one can seem to understand why. There are many ways to effectively market your considerable skills but this is not one of them. Perhaps you and Mr. Hughes ought to have your tete a tete in private?

Uhh, because you are publicizing it on this forum which has a worldwide audience. In so doing you take a private matter and invite others to respond. See my post above. I'll ask again. Isn't this really a private matter between you and SDH?

Keep in mind I wasn't calling him out, just trying to get in touch
