Hey- forgot to add since kitty has a death grip on the carpet you'll need at least a 250cc and a running start. Make sure the door/window is open all the way...

Up here in Canada, in the town where I live, if a cat/dog is not on a leash and wondering, it is considered a stray....until it is picked up by the dog/cat catcher. The owner is notified (if the dog/cat has a coller) and can pick up the cat/dog by paying the fee for the catcher to do his job. No shooting "house" cats in town. On the other hand, I live 4 miles south of town and on an acreage...if there is a cat in my yard, feasting on my song birds...it's considered "feral" and dealt with accordingly, (not with a pellet gun)or if it's a dog, it gets the same treatment, although I've never had problems with feral dogs before...had one take up residence at my place, but she stayed only long enough to breed with my 2 males had a couple batches of pups and took off.

Dear, Man With Run On Name...as mstarling stated on the second post of this thread, "I see that you're a relatively new member. Please be aware that Saeed has specifically said this thread is not to be about hunting domestic cats" Actually, you should heed your own advice...Quote from BulldogMaster, "I am about to "rant" about....... If you do not want to read about it, click to the next forum."...taken from one of your posts. After a few of us members made our individual points, I am simply bantering and having a bit of fun with posters who have a sense of humor! Sorry, I didn't send a memo. Taxidermist/Rugmaker

Seriously, I refrain from actually shooting them, but when they stalk the blackbird fledgelings etc; I can launch a pretty mean rock! this always results in the end of their " hunt "

So true! I don't have a problem noslerizing them, when they have no collar in the woods. I have a hard time not thinking that the ones with collars are some little girls pet. My girlfriend feeds hers a can and half of catfood each morning to keep them from hunting during the day time. Her rational is that if she makes them into butterballs they will be less inclined to hunt little song birdies during the daytime in the yard. As we have tons of song bird nest in the yard. I had heard about a British study that showed that something like 70% of all song birds in Europe end up in the stomachs of house cats. I haven't seen it, but if I find it I will post it.

I love to watch my parents' domesticated ferel cat hunt. It's amazing to see him kill flying humming birds, doves, mice (he catches them and brings them in the house to play with until they die or escape) and just about anything else. He's greased lightning. I don't get the "I hate cats" thing at all. Maybe it has to do with that Freudian penis issue.

rcamuligia, Depending on where you live "knowingly allowing your cat to hunt" is illegal, especially when it is killing things on the endagered species list. Mice are one thing, but humming birds? Are you kidding? You were the kid that pulled the wings off of butterflys as a kid weren't you, or you watched thinking about Freauds penis as your friends did.

A bell on a cats collar works fairly well to alert Tweety to his impending doom. As far as freudian issues it's a cats nature to hunt, the wing pullers are those that get their jollys off killing the little girls pet. ______________________ Always remember you're unique, just like everyone else.

Just like I said, I don't understand the "I hate cats" thing. Believe me, I hunt and have shot thousands of living things, but I really can't say that I "hate" any of them enough to do what the title of this thread is or what a lot of the posters recommend. About the only thing I could say I "hate" is rattlesnakes. But even when I kill them, I want it to be quickly. If you all could fill me in on what you hate about kitty cats, maybe I can understand. I mean, there are some people I'd like to see die a suffering death, like murderers, fanatics in the Mid East, child predators and rapists, and the like. The last time I checked, no kitty cats have performed any actions like the ilk above and, therefore, I wonder why you all would like to torture and kill them like Jeffry Dahmer?
your songbirds? That's hilarious. So if a truely wild animal (songbird) is in your yard, it's OK, but if a cat (which is actually owned by a person and is a pet) is in your yard, it's feral and needs killing. Wow

I actually have owned pet cats, so have my parents, along with all the other myriad pet species, I don't have a problem with all the neighbourhood moggies, just the ones that like to hold semi conscious fledgelings or parent birds that have tried to defend their young, maybe they are just doing what nature intended them to do,just not on my watch!

I do not hate them at all. I just do not like them on my property. As to not liking them, I find them arrogant, vicious, killers for pleasure, self centered, and self absorbed. I do not go out of my way to kill them, meaning that I do not hunt them. But I have no remorse in killing one in my yard. I actually prefer rattlesnakes to cats - at least I know when the snake will bite. With a cat, you never know.

BM,
It's amazing that you know exactly what goes on in the head of a kitty! Have you had a conversation with and analyzed many of them? Your analysis sounds like some people I know! So I guess if animals show up on my property and I don't like any of their God-given traits, it's just fine to dispatch of them, even though they might belong to someone. They might be someone's child's pet. You might even be friends with that family. That pet may be part of their family. I have dogs, Labs. I know that if someone decided to do them harm because they hated dogs and mine got in their yard, due to my negligence or not, I would have a very difficult time controlling my actions. The law looks upon pets as simple property, but, as you should be aware, owners of them have higher regard for their value. High enough to take action that may result in bad things for everybody involved.

What's all the love for the song birds about? Annoying little bastards make too much noise. The don't take eleven pellets though, they take one cat. ______________________ Always remember you're unique, just like everyone else.

My idea of biological diversity has nothing to do with cats. Cats are part of the reason only 20% of the native birds of Hawaii are still alive. Cats are the biggest ecological disaster on the planet.

And how did the cats get to Hawaii? I'm sure they didn't swim. There were Hedgehogs on a couple of islands here eating every bird egg, I think they rounded most of 'em up and moved them. "When doing battle, seek a quick victory."
