I'm a big fan of the "Black rifles" and was wondering who likes what and why?

I'll start. I've shot most of them and currently own a couple different flavors, but the one I liked the best was a Valmet (AK varient) in 7.62 x 39. It shoots very well, never jams, and the bullet impacts where you look. Of course it's the easiest thing to take down that I've ever used.

The AR is the 350 Chevy of guns. Everything is available for this rifle and the competition keeps high quality parts cheap. Ammo is cheap to buy and cheap to reload from plinking to 600yd target. it's a tool!

my $0.02

They are the most evil of all guns!Semi auto so-called assault weapons and full auto weapons.Black guns from the heavy use of black plastic and various black metal treatments.

I have always heard the term 'Black Rifle' attached to the m-16, mp5, basically any matte finished mil style rifle...I think it comes from the old timers who were used to polished blue with walnut stocks (ala garand, m-1 carbine, m-14 etc, thompson) and were taken aback by these far from asthetically pleasing people poopers.

Black rifles don't have anything to do with race or ethnicity.

Personally, the only so called 'black rifle' that excites me is the FN P90, and it is mostly plastic!

Collins,

After the M1918A2 I favor:
Bren MkII or MkIV (really just a barrel swap)
M14
FAL
G3 / HK91

BTW, the Franchi SPAS 12 is a real ass ache to load, manipulate. Have you ever used one? They do look "cool", but for a combat shotgun it is an over complicated, difficult to operate POS, IMHO. The Benelli combat shotguns are beau coupe superior weapons platforms!

Civilian tactical weapons. Most SWAT teams and the like are multi-colored units as long as the color is black. Uniforms, weapons, sometimes vehicles; all tend to be black in color so now it has become shorthand for para-military gear.

I think Ah-nold used an old Winchester 10ga lever gun, a 1901 (guess) in T2.
