I was shooting some 5.56mm Brown Bear ammo the other day at my LaRue tactical (knockdown) steel target at 150 yards and it left quite a divet in the armor plate. More than green tip anyway. Any chance it uses a mild steel core? Andy

Here is how to tell. Take a hacksaw, cut a ring around the bullet a little back from the tip. Once you get through the jacket you will know if you are "sawing" lead or mild steel. DOUBLE RIFLE SHOOTERS SOCIETY

Easier yet is to try a magnet.

psj12 The jacket could be steel and the core lead, if so it would still attract a magnet. DOUBLE RIFLE SHOOTERS SOCIETY
