Does 5.56mm Brown Bear Ammo Use Steel Core?
I was shooting some 5.56mm Brown Bear ammo the other day at my LaRue tactical (knockdown) steel target at 150 yards and it left quite a divet in the armor plate.

More than green tip anyway.

Any chance it uses a mild steel core?

Here is how to tell.

Take a hacksaw, cut a ring around the bullet a little back from the tip.

Once you get through the jacket you will know if you are "sawing" lead or mild steel.

Easier yet is to try a magnet.

The jacket could be steel and the core lead, if so it would still attract a magnet.
