I have a rifle with a very similar crest on the receiver ring. However, the eagle motive lacks the detail that your photo shows, it's more of a stylised stamp like the present day eagle in German proof marks. I've been told it's a Spanish air force model of 1944. The rifle looks very much like a K98K, but the upper hand guard extends to the receiver like in your photo, the bolt handle is straight like a VZ24,and the serial number is seven characters starting EA with five digits following. Not like the German system with only four digits and sometimes a letter or two following. Also, the rifle has finger grooves in the fore end part of the stock. Hopefully this info helps. радянський лайно --- йти ебать твою мать слава Україні

Might want to look that up in Ludwig Olsen's book from Brownells. The bible on Mauser rifles. Never mistake motion for action.
