I heard a gun dealer selling German K-98
Mausers asserting that the steel used by the
Germans was far superior to that used by the
Turks or Yugoslavians in their Mauser productions.
I certainly understand the German rifles being
more collectable and thusly higher priced but
I havent read anything ever saying they had
better metal and were stronger in any way
than other large ring later production Mausers?
Anyone ever hear that or seen any credible evidence ?

The steel was plain carbon steel. Low carbon content which was carburized. If you're talking about WWII issue the quality changed for the worse as the war progressed. My 1943 Oberndorf had spotty carburizing .Other than the steel changes were made such as using stamped instead of machined trigger guards.

Try to look unimportant. Your enemy might be low on ammo.
