Anyone here have or had any experience with the 7.62 x 39 ammo put out by Lake City several years ago? How much did they make and how long. NRA Patron Life Member GOA Life Member North American Hunting Club Life Member USAF Veteran

Yes we had lots of it for foreign weapons familiarization when I was at Ft Stewart, 24th ID. In 1981. I think they made it for Viet Nam, and you do not tool up to make less than many millions of it.

I worked at lake city from sept 1966 to may of 1971, i was a remington employee. The lot of 76x39 i am familiar with had no head stamp, and was made for the thiland govt.the plant had nothing to make this ammo, but ten days after receipt of the order to produce 3 million out the door.

That's interesting! I have a bunch of sterile headstamp 7.62x39 ammo, and wondered about it. I thought it looked like Winchester cases, maybe it's Rem though.
