I confirm that my rifle is a Schmidt-R. mod.1931 in 22.lr.cal. # 15, with 1971 Italian proof mark ,with other marks on it,Hammerli,Sig and on the barrel Lienhard.
I will try to send a photo of it.

I can't shed much light on it, but there is a gunshop in Scottsdale, AZ that had a couple of them in their racks. They carried a lot of high end stuff. Maybe someone can shed a light on who they are and a phone call or 2 might get you your answer.

I hope you can post several photos, in particular of the action. Curious how similar the action is to the K-31 Swiss military rifle.

Is this a target rifle, something intended for ISU shooting? I just spent some time doing Internet searches for this and can't come up with anything.

Was the gun shop in Scottsdale "Mandall's"? If so, I believe it is now out of business. In fact I heard a rumour (at least I hope it is just a rumour) that Marty Mandall died a few years back.

AC, that sounds right. It carried a good inventory and had some nice pieces. '98 was the last time I was there and it doesn't surprise me that it is gone. Too bad it might be through a death. A yellow pages search didn't turn them up. As to the .22 K31s they had, they were new looking and high dollar $1k+ IIRC back then.

It was a unique place. Marty had exclusive North American import rights for a lot of very scarce items over the years. He also had little time for cheapskates, so a lot of people didn't like him. Still, he and I were pretty good buddies in the old days.

It was one of those places where you never knew who would pop in...sometimes it was Joe Foss, other times one of a bunch of movie stars who lived in the Valley and were regulars.

In the old place, you could barely get through the aisles and buying something was a true challenge because first you had to FIND it!

When he built the new place on Scottsdale Road a couple of blocks north of the old shop, he had a brain wave and put in a nice basement range, and would rent his machineguns out by the half-hour so you could fire the ones you wanted to try (and maybe buy), right there in the basement. Naturally, he also sold the ammo...

Anyway, he always had lots of things in stock that otherwise you'd likely only see in the "Foreign Arms" pages of the old Gun Digests...Ljutic Shotguns, various new Double Rifles, Tanner & Hammerli target rifles and pistols, a Villar Perosa, Colt 1900's, you name it.

Not at all bashful on prices, either. One of the first sales I ever saw in the new place was when a woman came in with her obviously spoiled-stiff "yuppie" teenie-bopper son, spiked hair, gold chains, and all (both of them). She bought him a $2,000 air rifle. Just opened her purse and paid cash for it after the kid had done some tire-kicking and window shopping for a new "toy". Then he wanted some pellets for it and she said "Buy them yourself, you've got some pocket money left from your allowance." Kid bitched, but then pulled several gold Kruger-rands from his front chino pocket and bought a dozen or so tins of pellets with one of them....

Dang, those were the good old days.......
