Thanks Nikudu! I've managed to steer clear from hairy encounters with grizz so far, but I did see mama and little cub tracks across mine, where I had been climbing a few hours earlier, in the dark. Frans

I've got he Outdoor Life Bear Book. Even has one by our own Ted Gorsline in it. Grizz Indeed, no human being has yet lived under conditions which, considering the prevailing climates of the past, can be regarded as normal. John E Pfeiffer, The Emergence of Man Those who can't skin, can hold a leg. Abraham Lincoln Only one war at a time. Abe Again.

Thanks Nick! The bear story was great. I always enjoy an Andy Russell story. The North Fork of the Flathead has been my stomping grounds for a long time too....he makes a comment in the story about watching bears from a distance -- last spring Don_G and I were watching a sow G-bear and cubs VERY close to where this story took place. Cheers, Canuck

Glad you enjoyed, gentleman! Do pop in once a week, as I don't always have time to post a "heads-up". Many bear, sheep & goat stories coming up! - Nick
