I have been to NewFoundland at least twice and no Trophy Moose. I was wondering if anyone knows who has been consistently taking Large Trophy Moose ? The more remote the area the better. Accomomodations and quality of the food are a secondary considerations, the size of the animal and relentless of the Guide is what we focus on. Tuckamore Lodge seems to still be the name that emerges after all these years. As an alternative, also looking for a separate hunt which would just be for meat to take home. Anyone have any idea of how many pounds that might be from a Bull only meat tag ? Thanks for your input. PM/DM messages are welcome also. I sent out 1-2 but rec'd no replies yet, after searching the archives for past members here who went Cold Zero

I would recommend Bob Efford.Look at his trophy moose hunt only.I did a combo hunt 2 years ago saw several trophy bulls had a 50 plus bull @ 80 yrds and turned it down.Great bull we were 3 miles from camp and I didn't want to spend the time required to pack it out.I'm in my mid 60's and packing meat is tough on boggy ground.I've shot moose in western cananda & horses have spoiled me.I did shoot a trophy caribou. He has his own planes and that is a plus to finding good areas.

For a decent chance at a great bull I think you’ll likely need a draw tag. Both New Brunswick and Maine also have some tags that are awarded to sporting camps. I would suggest and recommend OMM Outfitters for either Maine or New Brunswick. I have hunted both, excellent resource in both. Good luck

Main question on the moose is how you personally define trophy be it score or a certain width, out west that’s a 50+, ideally 60+. Those kind of bulls are a big ask for out east, if purposely after a trophy bull moose I’d be looking at BC (northern 1/3rd only), Alaska, Yukon. If set on a bull for the wall I wouldn’t be looking eastern. If you want a Canada bull in specific shop B.C.

I actually believe that a 50 inch bull in Maine is a reasonable expectation for someone that’s got patience and the ability to spend the day on his feet in the woods. I have no skin in the game now, but did guide trophy hunters for many years. We got quite a few 50” to 59”. Best one was 63 1/2” and made All time B&C.

Totally agree 1000%. I want to hunt Newfoundland some day for moose, but not because I want to shoot a big one.

I have hunted Mosse in NF twice so far. I am looking for at least a 50" Bull and I am able to walk as far as need be and be patient until that happens. Cold Zero
