It's where I call home.

Pete, as I have said quite frequently, you and others like you are very welcome to hunt here and I will gladly help you. This IS about Canadian control of Canadian resources and that is all it is, some Canadians feel more empathy with Britain and others with the USA. I favour far fewer ties between Canada and the USA and much closer ties between England, Australia, Canada and New Zealand a traditional Canadian attitude in sad decline during the past 35+ years.

The term "socialist" is not correct in this situation, my attitudes are those of a Canadian populist, hardly a socialist and definitely a nationalist.

...Americans have their share of loudmouths, too... Yeah, that is certainly true!!!!

Agreed.

how are you guys living and breathing without Hockey????????? Maybe drinking copious quantities of good Canadian beer?

I'm surviving. I get my fix by watching my girlfriend's son play Junior A hockey in Prince George. I definitely know more about the BCHL since the NHL lockout.

RE: good Canadian beer...well, the only excuse I need for that is to celebrate the days of the week that end in "y".

If your ever in my neck of the woods, feel free to look me up.

Cheers,
Canuck

SHOOTIST,

Fort St. John, Chetwynd, etc. I haven't spent the time I would like there as usually I'm passing through on the way to and from AK. Last year my wife and I took a side trip off 97 down,I believe, 29(typical tourist, eh???) for a ways and really enjoyed it. If things go as planned, we're probably going to fish down that way this coming summer......just a fishing trip......try not to spend all of my time in the Yukon! Smiler
You live in some beautiful country.

I am in Chetwynd and my Dad has a bison ranch about 20km off of Hwy 29, north of Hudson's Hope.

It is beautiful country.

I am still homesick for the East Kootenays though. The mountains get in your blood.

Cheers,
Canuck

Kutenay, The old saying "go west young man" becomes bad advice once you've reached Hope.

I haven't heard one harsh word about ownership here because we're looking forward to the major economic shot in the arm it will give us. In spite of others, I will continue to hunt and fish in Canada. Getting guns across the border is no problem........Canadians always treat you well if you have manners and use them. Most of these bad feelings on this forum have been started by a nameless, faceless keyboard jockey that professes great experience and influence. And, yes, this would offend his "American friends" if he posted this drivel on the umpteen other sites he pompously visits. I've hunted and fished more than one deserves in Canada and will continue to do so as long as I feel welcome. I don't for one second believe that if I were in Whitehorse that you wouldn't sit down and have a beer with me. Pitting hunters against hunters is low and smacks of an anti-hunting agenda.......hopefully I'll fish in the Yukon this coming summer as I have the last two.......if I make it down, with your permission, I'd like to look you up. This is ridiculous argueing over what governments allow to go on........let's get back to hunting.

A couple of other things; The Canadian Forum, as I understand it, is a forum for all nationalities to discuss hunting in Canada, not a forum for Canadians wanting to just further their personal agenda. The other thing is that I have had the opportunity to know Dave Doan of Pioneer Outfitters personally(not as a client) and he is a hard working family man that runs an honest business.....Dave's a good Canadian.

Joe

P.S. Canuck, you do a great job here as a moderator.

Joe,

I am not totaly sure I understand what you are saying to me or who you are refering to in your post. Otherwise I am O.K with it and agree with you on what I do understand.

My responce to Buckeye was a little sarcastic. I do mean well.
-It is a fact of life that we have foriegn ownership of our resources and I can accept that. I know little of the managment of Canadian resourses other than outfitting. My opinion of what I have seen with having foriegn ownership of our Outfitter's consesions has not been good. As far as mining etc. I have no Idea.
-I responded to Buckeye because I think it is foolish for someone to pass up good hunting oppertunities because of what,"just a few" think. Especially when it comes to hunting and since it is not what the large majority of what Canadians in my part of the country think. I am pro hunting for everyone.(I don't give a hoot about politics but that doesn't mean I won't through my 2 cents in.) It never fails, it seems that everytime a topic gets started about something political, there is someone sniveling about not coming to hunt here because of our gov't or because of what someone says. It kind of reminds me of hunters that I have guided that whine about the weather not being perfect. About stuff we can't control. Just enjoy the hunt and make the best of it.

Joe,
Almost everyone is welcome at my place. Please, send me an e-mail on when you will be coming through. At the very least we can have a beer. Depending on the time of year, I know a couple of great fishing spots.

Yukoner,

I wasn't referring to you and apologize if you took it that way. I don't have an issue with what you said about any of it and understand where you're coming from. I hope I qualify as "almost everyone" Smilerand if all goes as planned, I'll let you know.........depends on how Spring bear goes. Thanks for the offer.

Joe
