If they keep raising prices they will have fewer clients of average means and less repeat business. I've hunted Manitoba since the 80"s first hunt 800 I have one booked for 09 (bear) for 2200 not counting the extras. Might be my last bear hunt !

Check out this thread.... https://forums.accuratereloading.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/7621043/m/671101708

Please also note, that it has much more to do with the drop in your USD than it has to do with an increase in prices. These guys have to charge 30% more in USD now to make the same money as they did 3 years ago.

Another unintended consequence of subprime mortgages, and the cost of the war on terror, etc.

Cheers,
Canuck

That does not seem to be much of an incress for 25 or so yrs. I bought a new monte carlo car in 1980 for $8500. A new one today about $24,000.
I also bought a home in Phoenix for $29,000
that home today is about $350,000. $2200 seems pretty resonable for todays prices. Seems to me gas was about $.75 a gallon in 1980. Don't get me started on the cost incress of women and good booze stir

If the $2200 is for a week I think that's a deal. Here labor alone would be 300/day for the guide, albiet more than 1 hunter/guide prob. In 1980 wages were prob $50. Also as said weak US greenback buys 33% less than 3 yr. ago. I have yet to see anyone getting rich in the outfitting business on the prairies. Mark

That is a very good price for a black bear hunt. Most cost quite a bit more than that now.

There seems to have been a rash of complaints recently from foreign hunters who think the price of guided hunting in Canada is too high. I don't understand the problem. If you think its too high, then stay at home.

Foreign hunters are always welcome in Canada. If foreign hunters stay at home, thats OK also!

Give me the name of some of those 2200.00 outfitters and I will contact them. Most of the prices quoated so far have been in the 3000.00 range at leat the ones around Riding Mt. park.

I would disagree just a little bit. We have a lot of black bears in Minnesota and you don't need an outfitter to hunt them.

I don't imagine a Canadian can go down and buy an over the counter tag. I'd have to use an outfitter, just like non-residents need to do here.

you can't buy tags through outfitters here. You enter a drawing for bear and if you are drawn you just go hunting.

are yo usaying that non-residents can do the same? It seems you aren't comparing the same things. The post started out as non-residents complaining about the price of guided hunts. I think you are talking about resident hunting, or am I mistaken?

Chef, you can go stateside and hunt on your own if you get drawn. I've hunted antelope in MT the last two years.

Didn't invite you (or anybody else) because I was invited to hunt a private lease, by an outfitter. Entering deadline usually is June 1st through the MT FWP website.
