A few weeks ago a young guy was fishing in the river south of Cardston, Alberta. Grizzlies are super abdundant in South west Alberta and are rasing havoc with the local ranchers. And also moving out of the foothills and mountains. Apparently the sow grizzly with cubs attacked the fellow. He told the story to a friend of mine who was bow hunting in his area. The fisher guy played dead and the sow left him. He got up to get back to his truck and the bear returned and hammered him again. He played dead the second time. The sow left and the poor fellow got back up and just about made it to his truck when the sow grizzly came back and beat on him for a while. Eventually he made it to his truck and got to the hospital. I saw photos of the slashes in his body. So lucky that he was not killed. He told my young friend that the game wardens came to his hospital bed and .... charged him wih harassing wild life. I would love to see that court appearance and see what the judge might say to the game wardens on that one.

No mention of being cited, if this is the correct story of the event. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada...rta-attack-1.7618270

I certainly agree p dog shooter. It sounds absolutely ridiculous. I did phone this morning to the dad whose son told me the story and he confirmed the conversation with the victim's dad. That is the correct news article but there was no follow up to that article as far as I know. Back in the day when you could buy a grizzly tag and could hunt them in Northern Alberta, a gunshop owner told me that if a person was lucky enough to get a grizzly, that the game wardens would do everything in their power to prove some kind of skull duggery. I know that sounds like some guy just beaking off over a cup of coffee, but I have no reason to doubt that. I shot a grizzly over 40 years ago and the local fish cop seized it, kept it for nearly a year and told me that I shouldn't be talking about it. ???? Just under a year later I was charged and told to appear in court about a hundred miles from my home. I was later informed that three experts had verified that I was innocent but the game warden did not want to let it go. He offered a $175 fine if I pleaded guilty and I wouldn't lose my hunting privileges for a year. A few days before the court appearance they dropped the charge and I have had my grizzly rug all these many years. I really do hope that everyone was lying and that they didn't charge the young guy. Talk about the classic case of adding insult to injury. Sorry about my rant fellows. Have a good day and keeo your powder dry.
