Southern Ontario, not far from KK.

Hunt groundhogs, rabbits, pheasant, moose, deer, and love to go for a duck and goose hunt, when I have time. Unfortunately, this year, no time. [Frown]

Ex-wife had no interest in going hunting, or me going hunting, either. [Roll Eyes]

Hunt whenever I can with my son, but being 21, he's got lots of other things on his mind. But, he enjoys it when he can.

New girlfriend is just new to the hunting thing. She's only been to the gun club once, but keeps asking when we're going again. [Smile]

Edmonton, Alberta. Love hunting whitetail and grouse. Two out of my three boys hunt, with the third taking his hunter training so he can hunt this year also.
I spend as much time as I can at the range. Am a confirmed gun nut, and yes, I also loath Liberals, and hunt them year round.

Vancouver, B.C. I'm a fledgeling long-range target shooter. I also hunt deer whenever I can manage to get away (like last weekend [Smile] ) I've hunted moose once before. We never got anything, but I loved the trip and I'd dearly like to try it again someday.

I also dream of someday being able to hunt elk.

I live in Abbotsford B.C. and used to hunt Mule deer but have now started hunting Blacktail deer in the alpine areas around here. Have hunted moose and black bears as well. Bears seem to be everywhere now!

I am living in Swan River and enjoy hunting whitetail. Turnerhunter would be disappointed to hear that the area he used to hunt is pretty well depleted of moose. I believe that area is now under the draw system (which is a moot point as there are no longer any moose there).

Had the opportunity to hunt moose and caribou in the Yukon this past September and I am now dreaming of moving up there (if only I can convince my bride). What a beautiful place.

Checking in from Vancouver Island, not much to hunt on the Island the predators have pushed what deer there are right into the Ritzy subdivisions in the city none seem to live outside the city limits. I have hunted in central B.C. and plan to spend time hunting northern B.C. for Elk, Caribou, Moose and Mule deer. Hey jpb how do you like those Swedish girls? are they the eye candy everybody says they are? [Smile]

Hey Doc. I grew up in the Peg and learned to hunt whitetail in Sandilands just south of the #1 highway at the Petrocan gas station past Richer. Also hunted moose for many years up around the Kettle Hills by Swan River down the Lenswood road at White Sand Lake.Great country but the season is too short.

The Moose have all migrated to Moose Lake n.e. of the Pas where there is a big moose management area. Lots of moose up there yet. Sandilands is changing with a bit of a housing boom in the Richer area. That petro can station is now an Esso called the double S truck stop. The fire guard road in behind the gas station is still there. There was quite a bit of moisture in there in the mid 90's, and the fireguard road that runs east about 3 miles south of the high way was under water for a couple of years. It is in rough shape now.

Someone mentioned hogs in Sandilands- I have seen the little wild peccary piggies running around just south of the highway twice. DNR is releasing trapped bears from the Whiteshell into Sandilands, and I have seen blacks quite a few times, especially in the Whitemouth river area south of the trans Canada....There are tons of whitetails in Sandilands the last 2 years- easy winters for them and we have finally got Any Deer season instead of bucks only which should help the roadkill situation a lot....

Just a Manitoba update of sorts....

Regards,

Doc Sharptail

Well I guess I will chime in, I am glad to see there are a few of us canucks here. I enjoy moose and deer hunting, the odd goat hunt. Have friends in Fort ST. John, and Whitehorse. Relatives in Cabry Saskatchewan, have visited Watson Lake on the way to Fairbanks Alaska. Also have friends in Coaldale Alberta. So I do like to get around. I see even Gatehouse chimed in, so he must not be working too hard these days.

I am originally from the West Kootenays, worked in forestry all over B.C. and much of Alberta. I have only hunted in B.C., for 39 yrs., prefer backpack and packtrip ungulate hunting and hiking with a drilling or combo gun for Grouse and Deer.

I am an extreme, whacko gunnut of the most deranged type and probably incurable. I have six custom rifle projects underway at present.I know I need help........

I also detest Liberals, Feminists, Socialists and control-freaks of all types. I wouldn't spit on any of them if they were on fire. I hope to see my country awaken from the long, Trudeaopian nightmare.

I am pleased to see this alternative to "gunnutz" which seems to malfunction a lot.

Grew up in Alberta but moved as far east as I could stand, Manitoba. Prey of choice is bear, deer, moose, elk, and waterfowl. Have expanded my hunting repertoire to include rifle, muzzleloader, & bow all in an attempt to lengthen the season!

For all you Western boys( aw all right youse guys in the East can look in too ) Try these 2 relatively new sites www.huntshoot.coastangler.com and www.huntingbc.ca . They could especially use new members from Manitoba and Saskatchewan to help balance things out! derf

The new url for HuntShoot is: http://huntshoot.coastangler.com/hunting/ (we are undergoing server & software upgrades too! LoL )

And yes it is one of the fastest growing hunting fouums in Western Canada. It is geared towards hunters & shooters from the 4 western provinces and the 2 western Territories, although like Derf mentioned there is no rule saying Easterners and others can't join in!

Hello from Manitoba here, south Winnipeg for me. Close enough to main highways to have easy access to a lot of good southern/eastern Manitoba hunting, again in the Sandilands and Whiteshell area. I hunt whitetail and small game, but have been carrying more gun what with the black bear relocation program in effect. I see more bear than anything else now, I never feel quite comfortable without a little more firepower.

I used to have a favorite target shooting spot just a half kilometer off of that road, I haven't been down there in quite a while. Looks like I'm going to have to go elsewhere for some good target shooting land.

I'm hoping that the remainder of this year and beginning of next year will be kind to them as well, I never made it out this year and my Dad and I are aching to go next season, the November weather hasn't been too objectionable the past few years. What dates are the Any Deer season open from and to?

Hi, I'm new here. Not too much of a gun hunter other than 30/30 at times, shotgun and my bow. Mostly bow hunt now.
I'm originally from Niagara Falls area, Chippawa to be exact....moved out west quite a few years ago and have been hunting these ellusive blacktails for the past 26 years now. Every now and then (when the bank can afford it) I go to the interior to hunt bigger game.
There's good blackbears here, grouse, pheasants, blacktails, cougar and wolf.

My Name is Steve Kane ...hi derf(freddy) and 700 nitro (steve). I'm a mod over at Realtree.com and just thought I'd stop in and see what this place was all about. Been hearing some good things about it.

Hi,

I'm from Creston B.C. in the Central Kootenays. I'm graduating with a degree in forestry this spring and have been working out of Creston and Cranbrook for the last few years. I hunt most things that can be hunted in b.c. and particularily enjoy long back-pack trips, archery hunting and duck/goose hunting. I also enjoy all types of shooting and reloading.

Registered yesterday. This seems like a good site, with an obvious Canadian content.

I live 130 kms. Northwest of Calgary in the picturesque Town of Sundre, land of the "Monster" elk. I enjoy all big game hunting. In the early season, I travel to the Peace River country for bull moose, love to hunt them during the rut. Quite a bit of elk in that area also.

We have a general elk season in this area(3 point), but the mountain areas require a draw (high priority for 6 point elk). I heard this is supposed to change to 5 point. With elk at my back door, usually do quite of bit of elk hunting throughout the season around here...mostly a 10 minute drive after work.

A friend has a cabin in the Clearwater River area, and we always meet during the last week of November for moose, elk, whitetail, amd mulies.

Look forward to "swap" campfire stories with all of you...
