I have recently acquired this pistol. My question is can I fire 460 S&W rounds in my 45-70. I currently have a 460 barrel from SSK industries, so I have plenty of 460 rounds.

Thanks Guys.

I would say no, the 460 S&W has a straight case with a diameter of .478 while the 45-70 has a case that tapers from a base diameter of .504 to a neck diameter of .480.

On top of that is the pressures of the 460 S&W are 3 times as high as the 45-70.... that makes for proof+ loading the revolver with each shot. The 460 rounds will fit in the revolver but the 45-70 rounds don't fit the 460 chamber at all.

I think you could expect some ruptured cases.

Speer, Sierra, Lyman, Hornady, Hodgdon have reliable reloading data. You won't find it on so and so's web page.

The Magnum Research BFR is also chambered in the 460 S&W. ( same cylinder steel and size )
Therefore shooting the 460 in a 45-70 will not cause an issue with pressures, in fact due to the oversize chambers, longer chambering and oversize bore, it will bleed off much of the operating potential of the 460.

The biggest problems are the differences in the chambering as PaulS has already stated. To fire a 460 in the 45-70 chamber will not work too well, and ruin your brass. Also the 460 groove dimension of the barrel is .452 not .458 as on the 45-70 and accuracy will not be good, as stated in the response given in the handgun section of this forum.
There is also the problem of headspace as the rim of the 460 is only .060 and the rim of the 45-70 is .070. This leaves a disparity of .010 which the firing pin will travel, but leave the case with excess lateral movement as well.

To shoot the 460 in the 45-70 chamber would fire, but is not recommended. .
