Python story.

I had a 2002 Impala that I gave my cousin in the 2015, it had 30k miles on it. For my sin my uncle gave me his 4" python from the 70's.

and yes the trigger is miles ahead of my 715 dan wesson or my SW 66.

Back in the early 1980's......I set my 8" Python up for 100 yard metallic silhouette shooting.
It worked pretty well.....even with Metal-Life finish.

Those who appreciate the original Colt Python, made between 1955 and about 2005, will also appreciate the Colt Diamondback, made between 1966 and about 1986. Absolute works of art.

The Diamondback was built on the Colt D frame, offered in both 22lr and 38spl with barrels from 6" to 2.5". It was a smaller, lighter, more compact version of the Python, with the same quality of workmanship.

Back in the day, a lot of us "on the job" had both a Python and a Diamondback, until our departments went exclusively to the Smith. And the rest is history.

Over time, we sold them off. Look what they
sell for now. Especially the Diamondbacks in 2.5".

That period of time in American gun making history was the highpoint in revolvers. Both Smith and Colt made some of the best revolvers ever produced. They are a pleasure to own and a joy to shoot.

For sure.

At heart I was always be a revolver man.

When I was a teenager I got hooked on colt revolvers. I bought as many as I could afford. Most were under $200. Then I got hooked on 1911's. I bought my first colt 1911 for $80. I still have it plus a few more...

I am hook on guns in general as far as revolvers.

S@W, Colt, Ruger's, Taurus, Charter arms are in the safes.

Colts have that long DA pull, wonderfully smooth.
I have a S&W 19 that was converted to a 5 shot 44 spl by spokane guns, and a S&W 58 with an action job by the same. They both have lighter pulls than my colts. They feel different though. Long pull with less stack at the end for the colts, even though the smiths have a few ounces less pull weight.
Depends what you like and are used to.
