I just picked up a like new Taurus 856 38 Spl from a young man that decided to sell because he wanted a 357. Was asking $315, but took $280. Seems to be a solid little 6 shot revolver. Thinking of loading it with snake shot for deer season. Probably more effective than the Ruger Single-Six. Shoot Safe, Mike NRA Endowment Member

Sounds like fun. Wondering how shot will pattern (size/distance)from a snub nose? NRA Benefactor Member US Navy Veteran

Hopefully I’ll make it to the range this coming weekend. Ordered three boxes of CCI #9 snake shot. They have them on sale for less than $10 a pack. Shoot Safe, Mike NRA Endowment Member

Mike, I enjoyed playing with the Taurus snubbie in .327 Magnum. I wish CCI loaded their shells with the No. 12 they use in the .22 shells instead of No. 9 shot. I have always had DRT results with the smaller shot on rattlesnakes, and had to shoot them again with the No. 9. There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn’t. – John Green, author

Bill, I noticed CCI also loads a heavier #4 shot cartridge. Never tried it, but it looks like it may be good for limited range on birds or other small game. Shoot Safe, Mike NRA Endowment Member
