tomo577,

Harry S. Truman said "I never give them hell. I just tell the truth and they think it's hell."

Why don't you take the advice and calm down? Your posts were hostile and what I said was indeed invited by you.

Savage99,

the basic protocol here is: if he ain't talking about your momma, or your rifle, or your dog...feel free to allow him the same liberties you desire...freedom of speech! One sign of an intelligent, mature mind is to be able to read a post without feeling required to attack the poster if you disagree with him. I don't agree with everything TOMO577 posts either, but I have passed the maturation point where I need to let everyone know every errant thought or opinion I have on everything they post. IF you don't like what he posts, use the IGNORE button and be happy.

I hope things get better for you

More to the opposite Idaho. I have taken far more abuse and can take it myself. I feel that tomo577's posts were just as I called them and deserved just what they got from me.

Thats free speech.

Please keep silent for a while.

i don't know how to search for past efforts, but past is past !

today, if someone took charge they could approach baikal direct, without remington at all

an order for 50 (or more) rifles could be arranged throught anther importer and another country and the rifles could be marked with a name other than spartan.

so go to the czechs or the turks, baikal doesn't have a lock on making double rifles.

and doesn't cz get their shotguns from baikal or the turks anyway ??.

it is going to take creative effort , and ACTION not dreaming and wishful thinking to get something done.

or just take the simple, easy way - pay $2,500 to jason simpkins (search) or rich show (search) and have them build you a double for $2,500

if you can't afford that you simply don't need a double rifle you need help !

Huglu builds the SxS shotguns for CZ -- quite nice for the price.

Tom,
sorry, you are entirely incorrect, and really need to either acknowledge that or just shut up. You have no knowledge of the new rules for importation (I am sitting next to a retired Customs offical right this second) nor contract law.

This can not be done.. but if you think it can, step right up and go it.

As for me CHOOSING to afford a double, why don't you leave your judgement of other peoples positions at the door?

I don't always agree with savage, but we get along good enough.. because he doesn't try to call bullshit fertilizer.

I highly resent this. Who the hell do you think you are to judge me or my situation? I for one can't afford to give anyone $2,500 for ANY gun right now. So what HELP do you suggest? I have other things that account for my money right now such as rent, food, and clothing for my children. On top of that, I'm leaving in just about 10 days for 18 months in Afghanistan. Who's going to help then? You're right, I do need help. Maybe, since you seem to have all the answers, you have a couple hundred thousand dollars laying around that you would like to offer to "help". That should just about cover things for a while and "help" me get a double rifle that I have been dreaming of for so long. Your assumption that everyone should be able to shell out thousands for a gun or that they are less of a person or less deserving are IMO arrogant, pompous, concieted, disrespectful, and ignorant. The best I can hope for in the forseeable future is one of the Express ML guns from Cabelas. But according to your statements that's not good enough since they're less than $1000.

Think about it this way. If it weren't for the dreamers, we probably wouldn't have guns at all. John Browning dreamed of making a better firearm. I guess we all know how much of a waste of time that was huh? I, for one, would love to see ANY manufacturer come out with a SxS double for around a $1K. Less would be even better. I wouldn't really care what chambering it had. 45-70 would be wonderful. CZ or even Stoeger would be prime candidates. They both already have nice, affordable shotgun actions on which to base. IF someone could get the Baikals here that would be great too but I don't see it happening. If it does, I'm in as long as they keep them under about $1000-$1200. Until then I guess I'll just have to dream and plan on building my own. You're right, I don't NEED one. But if we were limited to only what we need we wouldn't have anything bigger than 30/06. Don't ever judge another man unless you know his situation.

I don't know much about the laws and regs for importing firearms, but you seem to have it wired. Jump on it. When you have them in the country, let me know. I'll be in for one (or maybe 2) if they're reasonably priced.

"if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen

If the pressure or stress is too great, leave or give up. For example, It'll take a lot of weekend overtime to finish, so if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. This folksy adage has been ascribed to President Harry S. Truman, who certainly said it and may have originated it. [c. 1950] "
