Be interesting to know who actually built your Army-Navy. Sometimes experts can tell, sometimes not.

Good shooting and good looking rifle.

Try some Hornady 350gr RN bullets. Start with 70gr of IMR 3031, and work up or down till you find the load that regulates with your rifle.

Velocity @2330fps.

WARNING: YOU MUST USE FILLER. Either dacron polyester or a cut foam plug. The filler MUST BE COMPRESSED between the bullet and the powder.

For an even lighter load try some 400gr cast bullets or the 405gr Remington 45/70 bullets over IMR 4198.
Start with 45 grains and work up.
Again you must use filler, I recommend around 12 grains pf dacron polyester.

Velocity @1700fps.

That is one of the big advantages with a 450 Bore double rifle, there are so many good bullets for not only full power loads, but lighter loads for practice and smaller game.

I have killed a bunch of deer, and wild pigs with my 450 No2, and the 350gr Hornady bullets.

I have killed 2 squirrels [head shots, I fried them up], and 2 coyotes as well.

Is that an Oberndorf-type lever release for the forend? Very nice. My Army & Navy store sux....just old pants and canteens :-)

Lovely rifle! would love to see your groups at that distance off hand. You might be surprised at how similar a group it is.
Does the fore-end sight protector come off easy for use?

Definitely a keeper, hope to see some nice trophy photo's with it.

We are beginning to bond. 25 yards off sticks. My offhand group is a bit wider. If I can get my eyes to do this at 50 yards I can live with it.

In all likelihood now. I was taking my .375 and .416 Rigby before I got the double. I wasn't sure I would feel comfortable enough with the double in the time I have left but it's beginning to look doable.

"Bait Babe" will have her 7 x 57 and have her CZ 452 to keep us in Dove breast appetizers.

I would like to learn about the different Webley actions and how you could tell it's a A&W C (I don't even know what I just said). If you feel like trying to explain it have at it on either thread.

I too hope I'll take it to Africa. I think Brett would tell you there's little chance I won't.

The A&W C (Anson & Webley. Cordite) was the higher grade of the two Webley DR actions. The PHV.1 (Plain High Velocity) was the lower grade. The A&W has what is sometimes referred to as the clipped spade rib extension, the PHV1 has what is sometimes referred to as a clubs heads extension. Both can be seen in the 1914 catalog.

They are both referred to as "screw grip" actions and are both very desireable. On early guns (pre 1905) I have seen shoe lump barrels like yours. After that, they were made with chopper lump barrels. I have only seen intercepting sears on early A&W C's.
