Hi everybody!! Sorry about the photo quality. (I used my iPad) >>>> Here's my Chapuis UGEX from PastorP. I know it's not a big bore but, I wanted an all around caliber to handle everything in North America and maybe Africa if I ever make it there. So.... All of the advice you guys gave me (along with selling 6 guns) brought my dream rifle to reality in a 9.3. Under the forearm the barrel is engraved "KEBCO LLC"

Haven't shot the Noslers yet....DM said it's regulated for them. Shot 4 Sellier & Bellot that did well. I'll get a chance to shoot more tomorrow. I'll post the results as soon as I can (got a long work week ahead) Thanks guys !

Haaa haaaa haaaa.... Funny you said that Biebs... Some of my friends think I'm nuts for buying a double (they just don't have the bug yet ) .... But I've been joking about my hunts becoming American Safaris in my mind

Frank, you'll see...the ones with bigger holes in the barrels are also just as effective in taking local game. Any "trigger time" with a double is worth it!

I hear ya Pago.... I was warned by you guys that this is addictive! I can't leave this thing alone (talking about my Chapuis of course) I didn't do this when I bought other firearms in the past.... Or with the Sabatti that went back !

Biebs.... I wanted to shoot well and to be honest my recoil experience is only extensive with 12ga slugs, 7mm and 300 mags, 45-70, '06 and a few shots with a 375 H&H.... For a first double, 9.3 all around seemed it. I thought Nitro Express 450, 500 etc would be violent with recoil???? I don't rule out trying big bores in the future though. The Chapuis price range was a factor and with my limited DR experience...from what I see, I'm VERY happy with the quality.

Comment on your recoil experience; the bigger bores will feel like they have a lighter kick than your Chapuis 9.3. Lots of factors involved, but that rifle is not known for it's mild recoil. Now, start planning for a bigger one because you will soon grow tired of the 9.3 and want one.

I never would've thought that dpcd ????!!! This rifles recoil to me is noticeable but doesn't bother me. I looked at ft lbs of recoil and that made me play it safe for now. Guess I have a lot to learn about this new venture.... that recoil lesson baffles me !!

You can't go by paper recoil numbers; the Chapuis's light barrels and stock drop make it feel harsh to most people. Bigger calibers' recoil velocity is lower, guns are heavier. Also depends on your build. Scoped Chapuis' recoil feels lighter.

I'm 5'4" 175. So, if a light 9.3 is quite tolerable for me (and from what you describe), I would think a 450 or 500 NE should be manageable. Also seems huge for mostly deer and hogs? So, I guess I'll have to start saving to have a big bore too ! This one was my retirement present to me >>> (25yrs as a Corrections Officer and 8yrs NAVY reserve and Active Duty).

Sorry, but I can't agree here concerning recoil and the larger calibers. Yes, the Chapuis 9.3's have a little kick to them, but it in NO WAY begins to compare with my 500NE! I put the 9.3 squarely around the same level as the 375 H&H or maybe a bit less. The 500NE rivals the 458 Lott.
I will agree however, that the comb being a bit high tends to slap the cheek if firmly pressed into the stock to see the sights correctly, and as stated, scoping these rifles helps tremendously in that regard.
Otherwise, I have to disagree respectfully. My older son is very recoil sensitive. He shoots a Zavastava 375H&H for a DG rifle. He will pick up and shoot the Chapuis 9.3 any time, any day, without giving it a second thought. He won't touch the 500N under any circumstances.
Great choice! IMO the Chapuis UGEX is the best "double" value in the market today. Now we just need to get you into a Blaser R8 and you will have the best of the best.
Either of my Chapuis's will be my main deer hunting rifles when we move to Tennessee.
My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.
I meant the way the Chapuis 9.3s (I have owned two of them and sold both) smacked my cheek; not the actual felt recoil on the shoulder. I should have explained that better. I did not have a scope on them. When I order another one, I will have the stock straightened. The big ones might come back harder but don't hurt in the same way as the little ones did. With a scope, the effect is minimized due to added weight and heightened cheek weld.

Yep, that I can agree with!
Regarding Justin Bieber: This should just about cover it!
Glad to get a better understanding of the DR recoil and I thank you guys for that and the new compliments on my rifle BUT....really....... Justin Beiber ??????? I did some shooting today and I'll post some pics tomorrow of my 50yd shots... The rounds were labeled Nosler Custom with 286gr Partitions, but, the brass is NORMA ???? I don't think the rifle liked them very well but now I have some brass and the dies arrived today so overall ..... A good day at the range to get familiar with my Double
