Who can post the M.E. math formula please?
(Bullet weight, velocity, caliber, etc...)

D/R Hunter

Correct bullet placement, combined with the required depth of bullet penetration, results in an anchored animal...

I believe it is velocity times velocity times the bullet weight, then divide by 450400.

Maybe I'm not holding my mouth right but I tried that method for the .450/.400 Smiler, multiplying the velocity by 400/7000 and alternatively by just 400 - and got nowhere near the 4000 ft/lb-odd needed.

Here are some formulae and the first two tables I came across by googling:

Pagosa is, of course correct.
Using the 450-400 Hornady loading of a 400gr bullet at 2,050fps:

(2050 x 2050 x 400)/450240 = 3,733 ft-lbs
