New small frame V-C 375 Flanged
I wanted to show this off, first small frame in 375 Flanged. This is the same frame V-C uses for the 9.3 so it feels very nice in the hand. This gun features double triggers, automatic ejectors, 26” barrels, 14 3/4” LOP, french gray receiver, right handed shadow line cheek piece,, hand checkered, palm swell, steel grip cap, scroll hand engraving, sling swivels, scope bases at a weight of 8lb 11oz. Of course this can be made as fancy or as plain as the customer wants and runs approx $2,000 less than the same large frame gun would cost.

Do you want it stocked for your dimensions?

I'll have a second one here the shortly with two barrels, 303 and 375 F Mag. That one is stocked for my dimensions.
Here it is a few months ago after engraving.

It may be small framed but not small enough. The small frame 375 H&H Heym's are/were in the 7+ lb class. Don't know whether they are still made.

Size and weight are two different measurements. The regularly make 9.3x74R's on the same frame under 7lb. So if you want a light weight gun all you need to do is tell me what your target weight is and we can order one up for you. Probably save a ton of weight by just putting a single trigger in for you.

Very nice indeed.

Re weight, take of the scope bases, shadow line cheek piece, steel grip cap, put in a single trigger and you have your under 8lb DR.

I love everything about this rifle except the beavertail fore-end. I don't get it with VC and Chapuis? What's the deal with the beavertails?

Otherwise, the weight, the caliber especially, and the overall look is great. I'm still hoping Merkel will come to their senses and offer a small framed 140A in .375 Flanged. It would be hotter than one could imagine (with good wood of course).

Interesting point.

It's amazing what you notice and don't notice when you first look at pictures of guns.

I agree, a nice splinter type for end would really make the lines of that gun. Just my HO of course.

I think we can do the weight or get damn close unless you want something like 30" barrels

A good rule of thumb is that a extra set of barrels and forearm will cost about 40% of the gun

V-C makes what I ask for, if you want the gun with a splinter that is how it is ordered. There are no guns sitting finished at the factory, every gun is made to order as the customer specifies

Ken: I remember you talking about this gun when we were discussing Husqvarna shotties. It is just gorgeous, and I like the weight. The 9,3 is a lovely little wand, but it just doesn't have any "hang" out front.
I might need to unretire and start saving for the .375 flanged.
Would you consider an original Springfield NRA Sporter as down?
Cool

Shell that photo represent a fake side lock?
I.e. they will not essemble the lock on the sideplate and only fill the holes with pinns!
The box lock can be seen behind as well as the spiral spring. Or is that a Vierling using two Sidelocks and two boxlocks.
I have not known that AVC make fake sidelocks, only Bernerdeli is known for that.
But in that case I have alyways to look in.

Its a sideplate with pins, never said it a sidelock. V-C did it for me as a special request. The mgr of the V-C custom shop was not crazy about the idea but even he agreed it came out very pretty in the end. As I explained to him at SCI.....look around the room, many of the women have fake boobs but it does not stop me (and many men) from admiring them and liking the "look", same with the pins.

The guys at VC must have been drunken when they have taken that order, they will for ever been know as builders of fake sidelocks. (AVC is in that case, same class as Bernerdelli)

For the company it is a reprutation killer and for the client an absolute no go. I would wear a paperbag over my head while shooting at the range with that rifle, the absolut shame.

For the money you get a Merkel or Heym sidelock, better no engraving then a fake sidelock.

That's a bit strong. It's not a "fake sidelock",
it's a Sideplated boxlock.

Plenty of English companies made Side plated guns.

Bespoke guns are made to the customers requirements, not the makers. If you walk into
Purdey, Holland, Boss or any maker and are willing to pay, they will make it.

I have also heard it said that sometimes, people don't want a Sidelock but want the metal to be able to engrave.

And I am sure VC will survive what the market thinks over making of this rifle.

The AVC above is the true fake sidelock. It is not only as done many times, just a long side plate, there are pins added that it looks like an old sidelock. The pins have no fuction, they even interrubbed the sideplate (engraving).

Probably they even make a moveable axis in so that cocking indicator works.

AVC will probably soon engrave Holland + Holland on their guns if the clients want? What say AVC about that??? That is not real or is it?

Kebco, can this one be made with 24 inch barrels, and a splinter fore end? The 26 inch makes the rifle look out of balance, and 26 inch barrels are not needed for a 375FL mag double rifle.

This is a beautiful little rifle otherwise!
