Last year my son was shooting my VC 500 and complained that he could not break open the action after having fired it. I took it off him and forced it a bit which resulted in a bent cocking sear. It is presumed that my boy had not closed the action fully before he fired? Something like that.



Anyway thanks to Kebco and the chaps in France they managed to get all and more spare parts to me.

I put the gun through its paces the other day and all seems great. The cocking to eject system feels a tad stiffer then I remember but I am confident it will serve me well during the up and coming season.

You bet. But a bent pin as a result of possible operator error is FAR from over a dozen documented doubling incidents, not to mention that lovely plastic end cap...

You only need one shot fro the 500 up close and very personal.

What I have noticed with this gun is you have to snap it shut for the top lever to swing back all the way into position. Dunno if this is all that important but some of the English guns I have handled are much more silky in action. Having said that I have now fired this gun repeatedly (after the repair) with good results but if it ever fails me again then it will be cut up as fishing weights.

It would be irresponsible to pass it on to another.

HINT: "silkiness" comes with use. My double has smoothed out considerably after 3-400 rounds of use.
