What can I say you haven't done, said, or thought over a thousand times ? Undoubtedly, the answer to that question is... Not a damn thing. All I can offer is my perspective. What better two subjects are there to merge in the entire spectrum of what we know ? If you would rather ponder the depths of other topics, by all means. Personally, I don't much. Well, not nearly to the extent of the fore mentioned. For me, the two run all too closely a path and similarly in characteristics to one another not to be acknowledged. As same in a double, as long as the time and care are taken to regulate properly everything be good, it's when the barrels cross that you should reevaluate the situation. Perhaps that's why I respect, value, and find both so infintely interesting. Of both rifles and women... There are makes and models of every shape and size. Heaps of goods ones out there but despite that, there are even more that don't operate as well as they might could ( or should). That being said, you can get your paws on a solid unit and with a little elbow grease you can slick it up into something quite lovely. We understand that the ones truly worth having generally cost more and it's worth it. We know that just because others might not see the beauty in one doesn't mean it isn't there, might not seem too shiny to you but wait until you see her to her thing ! Since I'm being honest, the ones we want most have fine lines, solid stocks with lots of character, lock up tight to face, and perhaps most importantly have two big shocker ... Happy hunting, gentlemen.

The greatest thing about Joyce and the .450-400 is she pulled the trigger, realized the safety was on, and then fired--there was ABSOLUTELY NO FLINCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That said, she practiced with a 4-bore.

Jim:
Show your bride hunting videos of the hairy chested he-men and when pulling the trigger on an empty chamber they jump a bit. Then show Joyce her clip. Not a movement, then she moves the safety off, and fires. Quite impressive.

My friend David and his wife hunted with David's W.J Jeffery chambered in 475#2 Jeffery. She a wisp of a lady, but can shoot the big stuff.

Of course if you have ever seen Berit Aagard Pace shoot Finn's 375 you'd have no doubt what a woman can handle!

I think technique and the fit of the firearm mean a lot. Joyce's form improved immensely when we started modifying a stock to fit her better. She's 5'4" with typically small hands.

She shoots my Hoffman .375 H&H without issue even thought the stock isn't cut down for her. The forearm and waist of the stock are very slender.

That video with the 450/400 shows her steady follow through after recoil as well as the lack of flinch as Cal pointed out when she tried the trigger with the safety on. She had to shoot it off the sticks though because the stock length and weight of the rifle made it a poor fit for her to shoot offhand. One of the reasons we eventually sold it.

When we were in Moz the ammo for her 7 x 57 didn't arrive till a few days in country. WE had to rely on a camp rifle, a CZ in 416 Rigby. I sighted it in after Derek put a different scope on it. When we were about to leave the sight in area Joyce asked Derek if she could shoot it off sticks once to feel the recoil in case she needed to use it later.

Derek stood very close behind her and I suspect he thought she might have an issue and perhaps drop the rifle. She shot a perfect bull, again with perfect form and handed him the rifle. "I wouldn't want to shoot it all day but I'm fine with it". is what I remember her saying. Derek just smiled. She knows recoil won't kill you and poor form only makes it worse.

Handling a full load 450 3 1/4 without issue. Again off sticks though.

Joyce should be cloned. Every man's dream. I could do a Dr. Franenstein of ALL the women I've known and not come up with a final product with all of Joyce's attributes-- i.e. hunt, shoot, fish, skin, pack, fit, trim, nice smile, personality, camp, AND shoots a 4-bore!!!
You lucky bastard. I'm jealous.

My wife, at 5'-4" as well is no stranger to the hard hitters...while not taking on any doubles yet, she has absconded now with my .454 cassul revolver, a bolt gun in .375H&H, made for my 6'-4" frame, her own bespoke 9.3x62 and a Parker AHE 10ga. She draws the line at my 7 pound .500 Jeff., but she keeps eyeing my .475 No.2!
