Jorge,
Excellent pics of a real beauty! Looking forward to a field report followed by a successful safari report. I really like the way that the color case hardening came out. beer

It would look great in my safe!

I'm extremely happy with the way it came out. The other aspect I forgot to mention is the rifle feels like a 410. I mean it feels like half the bulk of the 470. Sweet!

First time to the range today and as the targets show, I was very satisfied, range 50yd:

Hdy Factory DGX (2152/2161fps)point of aim was at the 6'Oclock of the red bull

Hornady Handload (94.5 H4831 2132/21340) Point of aim was a red dot just above that fell off with impact:

480gr Wooleigh handload with same load data. 2113/2122 fps.

In this case, I think a grain or two extra powder might do the trick. Though I am not ruling the dermal out, I will leave it as a last resort Big Grin

When I ordered my VC from Ken and Jerome at DSC last year I asked my rifle look as close to a classic British double. I'd forgotten the "model" I used to try and replicate, but I finally remembered where I saw it; it was in Graham Wright's book, a W & C Scott. I think they did a pretty good job:

BTW, if anyone is looking for a good time to try out their double you should talk to Matt about a buffalo hunt. Took my son a few years ago and it was a lot of fun with real good animals. On my list of things to do again.

Jorge,
Have you chronographed the 450NE Hornady loads?
Interested to know as I did the other day (via a V-C 450NE and found them quite low in Velocity.
470 Hornadys on the other hand where up in the 2100fps range.

I sure did, go and read what I posted in the 450NE thread. Basically, the Hornady loads are choronographed @2150 out of a 28" barrel, my barrel is 25"so a 75 fps velocity loss sounds about right and I'll also add the loads for H-4831 in the book are wayyyy conservative. They list a max load of 96 gr with DGXs and the best I can get out of that is 2060
