That is exactly what happened, I was happily banging away with the .470 working on a load and just as I was pulling the trigger the UPS man blew his horn and I can assure you a 500 grain solid did a lovely job on the chronograph. Mine was a bog standard Chrony and I just wondered if anyone knew of one which may be a bit more accurate with the DR. Thanks for all your help. Glenn

I agree with the above, for obvious reasons. The top one was last weekend. After the one below I started using a piece of lexan as a shield in front of the display, but last Saturday a wad cleared it then took out the middle and back end in a shower of plastic, metal, and electronics. Despite being soft a 100 grain lubed wad at 1300fps packs a punch! The bullet cleared just fine, but despite the device being only 10 feet from the muzzle the spread of the wads did me in. Still less than the cost of a tank of gas though, and I got a few years of use from it. Bob DRSS "If we're not supposed to eat animals, why are they made out of meat?" "PS. To add a bit of Pappasonian philosophy: this single barrel stuff is just a passing fad. Bolt actions and single shots will fade away as did disco, the hula hoop, and bell-bottomed pants. I have a Chrony and an Oehler. I have set them up in series and shot across both of them. I have never noticed more than 25-50 fps difference between them. That is a level of precision beyond my capabilities as a reloader to appreciate. The Chrony can be set up and in use in about two minutes, the Oehler takes considerably longer. That said, I am sure the Oehler is a "better" chrono in terms of quality, consistency, etc., given that it is using three eyes versus two. But the one I always load to take to the range is the Chrony. Mike

Bill They're new and I didn't find any real owners reports. BUT the reviews all sounded good. Check it out with a web search. If I were needing one now I'd spring for one before one of the boxes. At first...I did not like the idea as attaching it to your barrel might alter harmonics making it useless to shoot for grouping at the same time as chronographing. But after looking at the so-called "custom application" on the web-site...one could mount it on the front rest or on a stand on the bench. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ J. They've had something similar for bows for a while. It screws into the mounting hole for the stabilizer...works great. For a rifle, I wouldn't be too keen on mounting it on the barrel.

Think about getting a PACT. They seem to last forever. I've been shooting over the same set of skyscreens that originally came with my Pact chrono since the early 80's. The unit is so old that Pact said I can't use their newer skyscreens with the diffusers on top and nothing can be updated on it. + 1 on the PACT, I've had mine for about 12 years and the only problem I had was when I left it in the car and the temp got to about 25F. It refused to work. Eterry Good luck and good shooting.
