Hey Will, you need to write a book titled: INSECURETIES OF A DOUBLE RIFLE HUNTER I think AR would furnish pleanty of material for it! Most double rifle shooters are.........BONKERS ....Mac >>>===(x)===> MacD37, ...and DUGABOY1 DRSS Charter member "If I die today, I've had a life well spent, for I've been to see the Elephant, and smelled the smoke of Africa!"~ME 1982 Hands of Old Elmer Keith

Why is it that whenever a firearms manufacturer comes up with a crap design, the customers who balk at the design get blamed for being too picky, having weak thumbs, or whatever?

500 you hit the nail right on the head. my understanding is they came up with that combi cocking design to comply with some german hunting regulations..... and like all the hard headed krauts just sell the same stuff to unsuspecting yankees. "you'll get used to it" well you will if it is the only top tang safety rifle or shotgun you use. no one .... much less the vaunted gunmakers.... want to admit they made a mistake !! lord forbid. it would be interesting to see how many combi they would sell if they offered the rifle in a normal model. interestingly, on their single shot rifle with the same device you can buy parts to retrofit it to function properly thus eliminating combi. wonder if those parts would work on their double rifle. and if it is such a GREAT device why don't they put it on their shotguns too ?? many questions, few answers. Mac No anger intended. I was attempting to state that the cocking device on a krieghoff IMHO does not require a sufficiently large amount of force that it would be a problem for any normal shooter. I see your point as regards accidently hitting the cocking lever and decocking the rifle, but I think that is unlikely. Regardless, to each his own. I do agree that when hunting dangerous game you should use a rifle with which you are intimately framiliar so that you can operate it "unconciously". In times of stress we all fall back on muscle memory. The safety etc should be where you muscles remember them to be. Terry
