The Bradshaw 4 Biebs Rising Block DR is now the Bradshaw 4 Buck Stix Rising Block DR
Hello All,
Over the last 10 years, I've watched several posts on various forums about building this custom double rifle. With each progressive post, I wished that I had ordered one for myself. Unfortunately, I was too impatient to plan that far out into the future, because I'm a "want-it-now" kind-of guy. However, when Biebs decided to pass it along, I just couldn't resist the opportunity. Seldom do you get a do-over in life, and I only had to wait 4 days for delivery - not 10 years.
As per my many previous posts, you all know that I love guns with stories. Well, what better story than purchasing one of the most written about Custom Double Rifle builds over these many past years. And a double rifle with such an interesting action. It fits right into my likes of unusual double rifles.
Details I've discovered are:
Weight when configured as a 500NE = 10 pounds 13-1/2 ounces w/ 26-1/8" barrels.
Weight when configured as a 450-400-3" = 9 pounds 14-1/2 ounces w/ 26-3/4" barrels.
14-1/4" LOP
As a follow-up, I spent nearly an hour talking with Bailey Bradshaw about his building this wonderful rifle. Besides a lot of detailed engineering history, a few points that really impress me were; - the rifle was re-started several times as design improvements were developed and incorporated into this final action - all the deep relief engraving and gold inlays were done by Bailey himself - he used over 11 feet of 22 carat gold wire in the inlays - he said this was the most elaborate rifle that he has ever made.
The rifle with both barrels are now housed in a compact toe-under canvas & leather case that I customized to fit my newly acquired treasure.
(I designed and made the parchment case label) Below are a few repeat pictures as seen before, and a few detailed ones that I have added. I've also listed the youtube videos that were made by Bradshaw during the course of building the rifle, as well as a link to his web page. I can't wait to get to the range.

boom stickIt can pay for itself by charging gun nerds like me $50 a pop to shoot the thing at the next Big Bore Hoot and Shoot. ( Actually it is a bunch or gun fondling, BBQ, BS and some shooting. What’s not to love?!). We should plan one for next spring when all this Wuhan Flu stuff is over. Texas? Arizona? California? Montana? Maybe Tennessee so there will be ample bourbon opportunities.
Congratulations on such a prize possession.

Hello boom stick,
Thanks for the reply.
Unfortunately I don't know enough gun nerds to have it pay for itself. But if you come to visit me in Wisconsin, I'll let you shoot it in exchange for a cup of coffee.

And maybe bring it to a big bore shoot so more of us non rising block peasants can appreciate it. I like the idea of one in Texas or Tennessee. BBQ or bourbon.

What software did you use to make the logo?
21 April 2020, 06:45
Tim CarneyPoached your Bailey Bradshaw trade label, Buckstix. Copied your image to my desktop, opened Photoshop and brought the image up. Deleted your rifle calibers using clone stamp tool. Noodled around trying to find a font that went with yours and got the below with thanks.

I didn't use any software .. I isolated the logo from the gold monogram on the rifle using Print-Shop-Pro.

Did not think of it :-( Would be grateful to know what font you used.
Notice that the rifle has Gilmer, TX rather than Diana on it. Was near Diana that I met Bailey when I picked up my first double from him many years ago.

WildcatterBuckstix,
I’m afraid this thread turned into a comedy sketch when someone said Tennessee offered better BBQ than Texas!
Come on down to Central Texas. We can have a grand shoot and I’ll be happy to introduce you to proper BBQ that is the best in the world. We should know, BBQ (barbacoa…) is from this region.
Thanks,
RC
Shoot the largest caliber you can shoot well, and practice, practice, practice.

I been to plenty of BBQ joints in Texas and Tennessee. Tennessee better learn how to smoke briskets, make sausage, and how to cook beef ribs before they can even be competitive.
My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.
