MHC_TXYour wife and family will be in our prayers!
I don't know any of you but I have learned a great deal reading your post. My wife and children are my greatest blessing. I may never make it to Africa or own a custom rifle. My prayers have all been answered already. I will be thinking of you and your family. May God bless you and yours. You will be in my prayers.

308SakoPaul, One of the hardest things about the battle with cancer is that we want answers right now to questions which have no definitive answers. Time which we once looked at as some what infinite is now a more finite thing. THIS IS NOT BAD! While the treatments and DR visits are not a "normal" way of living, what the heck is... Time is your ally, treat it well and the rewards will come for both of your efforts.
Somehow for Pam and I her battle has brought us to a greater appreciation of life than we had previousily held.
Prayers for your bride again this evening, and many more to follow.

577NitroExpressGentlepeople:
Thank you so very much for the kind words, thoughts and prayers for my wife and family.
Late last week during our obligatory two week check-up the doctor said that he is VERY happy to see how well the drug Tarceva is working for my wife. When he first met us two weeks prior to that, Karin couldn't hold a conversation without loosing her breath and coughing. Now, she can walk up stairs and be a little winded, but no where as bad as she was just prior to starting Tarceva.
Also, Karin broke out with a sever case of Tarceva rash after only a few days on the medicine. Usually, if the drug is working, the see the rash begin to start at the 10 to 14 day mark. Karin's outbreak so bad and so soon means only one thing: the drug is working!
The doctor does not want to start traditional chemo yet, but instead keep Karin on Tarceva for two more weeks. We have a CT scan at the end of next week, and an MRI on her brain in seven weeks to see how your issues are doing. We are praying for any type of improvement. At that point, we will re-evaluate and change our course of treatment accordingly.
People tell us to fight. Fighting implies that you might loose. We ain't loosing, so our battle cry is that we are on the WAR PATH!
Again, humbly, I thank each of you for taking the time to show your support for my family and for saying prayers for my beloved wife.
Very respectfully,
Paul

Frank BellerPaul: When I was 19 years old (1966), my mom was told she had kidney cancer & was operated on -nearly cut half in two. Naturally my dad & us kids were devastated. We took the same course as your family - everyone prayed & we decided that she was too young to leave us - I guess you could say we also went on the war path. Well, it works ..... I'm now 63, & I kept my mother until 3 years ago ..... She was 91. KEEP ON YOUR WAR PATH !!!!

308SakoOnce again I return to pray again for the victory over this case of cancer.
I do hope and believe that one day in the not unforseeable future cures will be common as we begin to fully understand the powers of our DNA. In the meantime do all that you can to enjoy what you have together. My wife would say bring on the happy hormones... they seem to help the chemo.
Prayers sent and given.

577NitroExpressKarin is in critical condition in the Trauma ICU at INOVA Fairfax hospital.
Has pneumonia and blood clots in both lungs. Blood oxygen levels were down to 78 yesterday morning (anything below 90 is serious).
She is heavily sedated and has a breathing tube in.
Doctor said next 48 to 72 hours critical.
She is showing signs, based upon test results, that her blood gases are improving and her white blood cell count is decreasing (good thing).
They gave her a high dose of powerful radiation to her lung today, and started chemo.
Prior to sedating her, we had to say our goodbyes to each other the problem was that sever.
Keep the prayers coming. Need them more than ever now.
